During this Friday, the NBA´s name is the Utah Jazz guard, Ronnie Breewer, who will play in Chicago with his teammates in Utah, Korver and Carlos Bozzer. Chicago, with this three players, plus Derrick Rose, Joachim Noah and Luol Deng can be a good alternative to Miami, Boston or Miami, which confirmed the acquisition of two centers, the free-agent Joel Anthony and Dexter Pittman, from University of Texas.

During this firt july´s week, the European football clubs are signing many players in order to have a more competitive squad. There are many transfers, but, maybe the more important transactions are:

English Premiership

The protagonists are the London´s club: Chelsea and Arsenal.
Chelsea has acquired the skilful Benayoun from Liverpool ante the European defender pearl, Tomas Kalas, who arrives from Sigma Olomuc –Chelsea paid around 8 million euros to Liverppol-.
Arsenal looked for a player in order to supply the William Gallas´s departure and finally, the gunners have found a player in the French market, the favourite market for Arsene Wenger, whose election is the Lorient´s central defender, Lorient Koscielny, who is 24 year´s old (transfer fee: 12,5 million euros).
Finally, in the English Premiership, we must remark the arrival of Roy Hodgson as Liverpool´s new manager and the two Manchester City´s acquisition: the powerful Touré Yaya and the elegant David Silva (around 55 million euros for both players).

Spanish Liga

The most important news is the Dmitro Chygrynskiy´s departure from FC Barcelona to Shakhtar Donetsk. The catalan club has financial problems ant it needs money to pay the salaries of the players and for this reason the club decided to receive 15 million euro for a players, whose price was 25 million euro, one year ago, what a “great” business!.
Moreover, an argentinian player has arrived to la Liga, Valencia is spending the money received for the David Villa and David Silva´s transfer and it bought an offensive midfielder, Tino Costa, who arrived from Montpellier (transfer fee: 6 million euro).

Italian Serie A,

the protagonist is Juventus Torino, whose directors have signed three news players: the Uruguayan striker Jorge Martinez from Catania and the defenders Leonardo Bonucci and Motta. Besides, Parma bought the right of the Bulgarians star Bojinov and the argentinian defender Paletta from Boca Juniors. Finally, Mark Bresciano will play in Lazio.

Bundesliga,

Wolfsburg is the team with more news, since during the last days two good central defender arrived to this team: Manuel Friedrich and Simon Kjaer.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: ROUND 16, OUR PREDICTION (article in English and Español)

We have the draws of the Round 16 of the Champions League and there is here our prediction:

1-INTER MILAN-CHELSEA FC

Possibly it is the more balanced draw since both have incredible squads and both are leaders in their respective leagues, but we do not know but Inter does not transmit great feelings, since it plays with a little laziness, knowing that it is the best Italian team and that it will win the Serie A games without many problems in any play thanks to the quality of the players like the excellent striker Diego Milito and Samuel Eto'o or the top midfielder Wesley Sneijder. Maybe this laziness may be enough to win games against normal teams but it is insufficient in important and complicated games like this draw against FC Chelsea and in fact Inter won only 2 Champions league´s game until this moment, showing a poor image in different games like in the game at the Camp Nou against FC Barcelona. José Mourinho has to work to have a serious candidate to win this draw against FC Chelsea, which continues as habitual in the last year, with good level both defensive and offensive-it is Premier League´s team with less goals received and besides is the top scorer-.Anyway, one thing is clear, any football fan must watch these games, since the spectacle is guarantee with players like Joe Cole, Didier Drogba, John Terry, Deco, Essien, Ballack, Zhirkov, Lucio, Sneijder, Eto'o, Milito, Julio Cesar, Maicon, Balotelli ... ..

2-VFB STUTTGART-FC BARCELONA

If FC Barcelona is always a favourite, what we can say this time, since it will play against a team which has many problems during this season:15th position in the Bundesliga-3 wins in 17 games-, it has new coach, Christian Gross-former Basle´s coach-, who arrive to replace Markus Babbel to try to fix the problems of the team, which has both defensively –it is normal if you have a goalkeeper like Jens Lehmann(his last mistake was during the last game where he committed an absurd aggression over the Mainz striker Aristide Bance and the result was a red card and a penalty)-and offensively, since although it has good players like the Romanian offensive midfielder Ciprian Marica-perhaps is the best player on the team-or the good Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak, they are not finding the correct way to get a good sum of goals. So, many problems to can be a real alternative and to have some chances to beat an excellent and powerful team like this current FC Barcelona, which is being a solid and strong team in all the lines and of course with incredible results, 6 titles in a season, the last, the World Championship after a complicated game against a hard Estudiantes de La Plata.

3-OLYMPIACOS-GIRONDINS BORDEAUX

Good and equalized draw, although we think that Girondins has more chances to play next round, cause the Laurent Blanc´s team is showing that the last season French title was not a fluke and this season, it is showing a great strength both in Le Championat-it is the comfortable leader-and in the Champions League, where it finished in top position of a complicated and strong group with Juventus and Bayern Munich as rivals, showing that is a very balanced team in all lines thanks to the level of players like the defender Ciani, the midfielders Fernando Menegazzo and Alou Diarra, the imaginative and skilled Yoan Gourcuff-many team, like FC Barcelona, are following this player-, the right winger Yoan Gouffran or as the skilled striker Marouane Chamakh, who, by the way, finish his contract with Girondins this summer. So, it is a very good team and I think that it will impose its quality to Olof Mellberg, Dudu Cearense, Stoltidis, Enzo Maresca and Costas Mitroglou.

4-CSKA MOSCOW-FC SEVILLA

It will also be a balanced draw, since although CSKA is not making a good season in the Russian league-5th position in the standing-, it is a dangerous team in this kind of rounds, since it has a competitive squad with players like the great young goalkeeper, Igor Akinfeev, or the solid defender like the Berezutsky brothers, Sergey Ignashevich or the Lithuanian back Semberas, or the experienced midfielder Evgeni Aldonin, or the excellent right midfielder Milos Krasic-possibly the best player of the team and one of the best right midfielder of the world- or “the young pearl” Alan Dzagoev, who is on the agendas of many top European clubs. Perhaps the biggest problem of this team is the lack of a great and top striker and its lack of competition´s games, since the Russian league finish this month and of course it will be complicated to the Russian team to play against a team, whose players are 100% and specially if the rival players are players with the level of players like Jesus Navas, Kanoute, Luis Fabiano, Alvaro Negredo or Diego Perotti.

5-FC PORTO-ARSENAL FC

Arsenal-it will play without the injured Robin Van Persie-will have many problems to beat FC Porto, which is a good team , since Jesualdo Ferreira has competitive players in all the lines if we exclude the goalkeeper Helton. It will be very nice to see the different duels during this draw: the hard Bruno Alves-he scores many goals with his head-and Rolando against Theo Walcott and Eduardo; the competitive Fernando, Raul Meireles and Fernando Belluschi against Samir Nasri, Francesc Fàbregas and Andrei Arshavin or the battle between the great Hulk -the "incredible" Hulk is the best player of the team, he has vision, quality and goal-and the wily Radamel Falcao-8 goals in 12 Superliga´s games-against the Arsenal defensive´s line. This draw can be a trap for Real Madrid because although it might seem relatively straightforward, since Olympique is making a poor season in the French league –it is far from the first place of the standing, with a terrible and strange streak of 3 wins in the last 10 games-, we think that Real Madrid should be careful because the Lyon´s coach, Claude Puel, is a great strategist and knows to get the best performance of his teams in this kind of games, especially if his squad is composed by good players, like this Lyon, where we can find players like the goalkeeper Lloris-player of the French national team-, or the good midfielders like the strong Toulalan and Jean Makoun or the skilled Ederson, Michael Bastos or the young Bosnian Miralem Pjnaic (one of the pearls of European football), or the complete offensive line with players like the skilled Lisandro Lopez- he is adapted 100% to the European football- and the powerful Bafetimbi Gomis. In short, it is a complete team and of course it can trouble Real Madrid, whose performance is uncertain, since until this moment it is not playing very well and we will see if in February Kaka and Karim Benzema will be 100% adapted, if the team will have defensive problems after the Pepe's injury....

7-BAYERN MUNICH-FIORENTINA

It seems that finally the Louis Van Gaal´s team has found the correct way and it is gradually improving its level and after a disappointing start-2 points in the 3 first Bundesliga´s games-,it is making a great final part of the year both in the Bundesliga-it is very close of the top position in the Bundesliga´s standing-and in the Champions League, where it got an amazing win at the Olimpico di Torino (1-4). Great results for a team whose squad is very complete, since we can find players like Philipp Lahm, Daniel Van Buyten or the offensive back Danijel Pranjic in the defensive line, the hard Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, young Thomas Müller (one of ”the german pearls” and one of the sensations of the season), the incredible Franck Ribéry (one of the best in the world), Arjen Robben or the dangerous Bastian Schweinsteiger as midfielders, or the powerful forward´s line with players like wily Ivica Olic, Mario Gomez and Miroslav Klose. So, it is a top team, called to make good thing this season and we think that it will not have many problems to beat Fiorentina, cause Fiore in at this moment far from being a competitive team and in fact it is making a poor Serie A´s season- in the middle of the standing- with many offensive problems, which is a bit strange, since Cesare Prandelli has good offensive players like the young Jovetic-the Montenegrin has a great future-, Gilardino or Adrian Mutu-he is far from his best level-.

8- AC MILAN-MANCHESTER UNITED

It is unknown what AC Milan we will see against United, if it will show its Bernabeu´s image-it played well against Real Madrid-or if it will show the other face, the face showed during the game against Inter (0-4, hard defeat) or during the games against modest Zurich. Obviously if the AC Milan wants to have any chance to beat Manchester United, it will need the best of all the stars-it needs the best performance of its best player, the Brazilian Alexandre Pato, who will have a complicated games against the great Vidic-Rio Ferdinand-, playing a hard style, closed game, without concession, impeding the United´s style some tough matches, since if United, which has better defensive and offensive level, can play with speed, it will be the clear favourite and it will pass to the next round without many troubles.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: 8º DE FINAL, NUESTRO PRONÓSTICO (Article in English and Español)

Se acaban de sortear los octavos de final de la Champions League con los siguientes emparejamientos:

1-VFB STUTTGART-FC BARCELONA
Si al FC Barcelona hay que tenerlo siempre como favorito en cualquier eliminatoria, mas si cabe en este caso, pues el Stuttgart de esta temporada-al menos hasta este momento-está muy lejos de ser un equipo competitivo, deambula en la 15ª posición de la Bundesliga-2 victorias en 16 partidos de liga-, acaba de llegar Christian Gross-ex del Basilea- al banquillo en sustitución de Markus Babbel para tratar de arreglar los problemas de un equipo que está mostrando debilidad defensiva-algo normal con Jens Lehmann en la portería (sigue con sus actuaciones lamentables y su último numerito fue una agresión absurda al delantero del Mainz Aristide Bance que ocasionó penalty y expulsión)y sobre todo una importante falta de pegada pese a tener buenos jugadores ofensivos como el media punta rumano Ciprian Marica-quizás es el mejor jugador del equipo- y el buen delantero ruso Pavel Pogrebnyak-parece que está cogiendo el olfato, ya que ha marcado en los 2 últimos partidos disputados-. En fin, equipo con muchos problemas y que no debe ocasionar ningún problema al equipo de Pep Guardiola.

2-OLYMPIACOS-GIRONDINS BURDEOS
Eliminatoria pareja pero si nos tenemos que decantar por un equipo, creemos que el Girondins pasará pues el equipo de Laurent Blanc está demostrando que el título de campeón de la liga francesa la temporada pasada no fue una casualidad y este año está mostrando una gran solidez tanto en el Championat-cómodo líder- como en la Chamions League, quedando primero en un grupo fuerte con Juventus y Bayern Munich como rivales, gracias a que tiene un equipo muy compensado en todas las líneas con jugadores como Ciani en defensa, Fernando Menegazzo y Alou Diarra en el doble pivote, el imaginativo y genial Yoan Gourcuff-seguido por muchos grandes como el FC Barcelona-, el medio derecho Yoan Gouffran o como el habilidoso delantero Marouane Chamakh, que por cierto termina contrato esta temporada. Es decir buenos juegadores que creemos que se impondrán a los Olof Mellberg, Dudu Cearense, Stoltidis, Enzo Maresca o Costas Mitroglou.

3-CSKA MOSCÚ-FC SEVILLA
También será un emparejamiento equilibrado pues si bien el CSKA no está realizando una buena temporada en la liga rusa-5º clasificado a 9 puntos del líder, el Rubin Kazan-sí que es un equipo peligroso a doble partido, pues tiene un gran portero, el joven capitán Igor Akinfeev, una sólida línea defensiva con jugadores como los hermanos Berezutski, Sergey Ignashevich o el lateral lituano Semberas, jugadores experimentados como el medio centro Evgeni Aldonin y jugadores muy desequilibrantes como el interior derecho Milos Krasic-posiblemente el mejor jugador del equipo y uno de los mejores del mundo en su puesto-o el joven Alan Dzagoev que está en las agendas de todos los grandes del fútbol europeo. Quizás su principal problema es la falta de un gran nueve y que cuando se juegue la eliminatoria contra el Sevilla, el CSKA llegará sin ritmo de competición-la liga rusa termina ahora-, lo cual es un gran inconveniente si delante tienes jugadores al 100% y de tanta calidad como Jesús Navas, Kanoute, Luis Fabiano, Alvaro Negredo o Diego Perotti. Eliminatoria bonita siendo el favorito el Sevilla CF

4-FC PORTO-ARSENAL FC
Muchos problemas tendrá el Arsenal-jugará la eliminatoria sin el desequilibrante extremo Robin Van Persie- para eliminar a un buen equipo como es el FC Porto, pues el equipo de Jesualdo Ferreira tiene un muy buena pinta pues si descontamos la portería-Helton no es muy fiable-, tiene jugadores de gran nivel en todas las líneas como los duros centrales Bruno Alves-muy peligroso en los córners, consiguiendo muchos goles de cabeza- y Rolando; los correosos medios Fernando y Raul Meireles, el habilidoso Fernando Belluschi, el desequilibrante Hulk-el “increíble” Hulk es sin duda el mejor jugador del equipo, tiene visión, regate y gol- y el astuto Radamel Falcao, que se está adaptando bastante bien a la Superliga portuguesa y lleva 8 goles en 12 partidos disputados. Es decir, es un buen equipo y mucho van a sudar los Cesc Fàbregas, Andrei Arshavin, Eduardo, Theo Walcott o Samir Nasri para poder eliminar al conjunto luso.

5- OLYMPIQUE LYON-REAL MADRID
Eliminatoria trampa para el Real Madrid porque si bien puede parecer relativamente sencilla, pues el Olympique está realizando una mala temporada en la liga francesa-4º clasificado a 8 puntos del Burdeos-, con una pésima y extraña racha de 5 partidos sin ganar-2 victorias en los últimos 9 partidos-, hay que decir que el Real Madrid debe tener cuidado porque el entrenador del Lyon, Claude Puel, es un gran estratega y sabe sacar mucho rendimiento a sus equipos en eliminatorias a doble partidos, sobre todo si en sus filas tiene jugadores de mucho nivel como el portero Lloris, o los que forman un medio del campo muy compensado-la contención con jugadores como Toulalan o Jean Makoun y la imaginación con jugadores como Ederson, Michael Bastos o el joven bosnio Miralem Pjnaic(una de las perlas del fútbol europeo)- o la buena dupla atacante formada por un desequilibrante Lisandro López-totalmente adaptado al fútbol europeo-y el poderoso Bafetimbi Gomis. En fin, una conjunto con jugadores de nivel y que pueden poner en más de un aprieto a un Real Madrid que habrá que ver cómo llega, si Kaka ya se habrá adaptado totalmente, si habrán solucionado los problemas defensivos tras la lesión de Pepe, si Karim Benzema se aclimata totalmente, si llegan jugadores de banda….

6-BAYERN MUNICH-FIORENTINA
Parece que finalmente el conjunto de Louis Van Gaal ha puesto la directa y que poco a poco está mejorando el nivel de juego y tras un inicio decepcionante-2 puntos de 9 posibles-, está realizando un gran final de año tanto en la Bundesliga-ya es 3º a 2 puntos del líder, el Bayer Leverkusen- como en la Champions League con esa gran victoria en el Olímpico de Turín(1-4). Grandes resultados para un equipo que tiene una plantilla muy completa con jugadores de mucho nivel en todas las posiciones y que están llamados a hacer algo grande esta temporada-Philipp Lahm, Daniel Van Buyten o el ofensivo Danijel Pranjic en defensa; el duro Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, el joven Thomas Müller (una de las revelaciones de la temporada), los desequilibrantes Franck Ribéry(uno de los mejores del mundo) y Arjen Robben, el siempre peligros Bastian Schweinsteiger en el mediocampo; o la poderosa delantera formada por los astutos Ivica Olic, Mario Gómez o Miroslav Klose. Es decir, mucha calidad y que creemos que se impondrá con bastante facilidad en esta eliminatoria, porque la Fiore está muy lejos de ser competitiva, de hecho está perdida en la clasificación de la Serie A-11ª posición- con muchos problemas de pegada, aunque tiene un buen tridente, formado por el joven Jovetic-gran futuro el que tiene el montenegrino-, Gilardino y Adrian Mutu-lejos de su mejor nivel-, pero no creemos que pueda ser suficiente para poner al conjunto alemán en serios apuros.

7-INTER MILAN-FC CHELSEA
A priori parece la eliminatoria más equilibrada, pues ambos conjuntos atesoran grandes plantillas, líderes de sus respectivas ligas, pero no sé, el Inter no me acaba de transmitir grandes sensaciones, pues juega un poco con desidia , sabiéndose superior en la Serie A y que en cualquier jugada por medio de Diego Milito-grandísimo delantero-, Samuel Eto´o o Wesley Sneijder va a decantar el partido, lo cual puede ser suficiente para ganar partidos ante equipos medios pero es insuficiente en los partidos de nivel y exigencia como contra el FC Chelsea y de hecho el Inter en Champions sólo ganó 2 partidos de 6, mostrando una pobre imagen en diversos partidos como el del Camp Nou contra el FC Barcelona. Mucho va a tener que trabajar José Mourinho para que su equipo pueda ser realmente un serio candidato a imponerse en esta eliminatoria ante el FC Chelsea, que sigue como siempre en los últimos años, sólido y con pegada-es el equipo más goleador de la Premier y el menos goleado-. Lo que está claro es que uno no se puede perder un partido cuando en el campo juegan jugadores como Joe Cole, Didier Drogba, John Terry, Deco, Essien, Ballack, Zhirkov, Lucio, Sneijder, Eto´o, Milito, Julio Cesar, Maicon, Balotelli…..

8- AC MILAN-MANCHESTER UNITED

Es una incógnita qué AC Milan veremos ante el United, si veremos la cara que mostró en el Bernabéu o si veremos la cara del partido del Inter(humillante derrota por 0-4) o de los partidos contra el modesto Zurich-el AC Milan fue incapaz de ganarle-. Evidentemente si el AC Milan quiere tener alguna posibilidad necesita lo mejor de todas sus estrellas, haciendo unos partidos duros, sin concesiones, trabados, feos, que el United tenga problemas para darle velocidad al juego, porque si no lo hace así, pocas opciones va a tener de llevarse la eliminatoria. Creemos que en todo caso Leonardo tendrá que confiar en que Dida tenga un día afortunado, lo cual es poco probable y que el gran Alexandre Pato( el mejor jugador de largo del AC Milan) marque las diferencias las diferencias en el ataque y se pueda imponer a una de las mejores parejas de centrales del mundo, Vidic-Rio Ferdinand.
En fin, nuestro favorito es el Manchester United, que tiene mucha mejor defensa y ataque que el AC Milan.

Finally the Ricky Rubio´s issue arrived to the final decision and the 18 year´s old Spanish guard arrived an agreement with the Regal FC Barcelona to play in this team during the next 6 seasons.
The truth is that the Ricky´s affair has been a very complicated issue and we have seen many thing and situation during the last 5 months: the player's decision to be in the NBA draft 09- the normal thing when a player of this level decides to be in a NBA Draft is that he and his agent (Dan Fegan) have things more or less clear about the future and the teams which have a real interest in his acquisition and obviously according to the result of the draft ( he was drafted with the fifth pick in the first round by the Minnesota Timberwolves), his agent did not make a good job-; unlucky Ricky's statements-I can not understand the statements appeared in some newspapers in which there was not a real interest to play in teams like Oklahoma City Thunder or Memphis Grizzlies and of course the normal thing occurred during the Draft and these teams did not choose Ricky Rubio-; Ricky and his agent´s bad decisions, since according to the Sacramento Bee, Dan Fegan declined to make a trial between Ricky and other rookies for the Sacramento Kings and this team, which was the team wanted by Ricky, did not choose the Spanish guard in the NBA draft-; the complicated situation between Ricky and his team(Joventut Badalona) when Ricky Rubio sued Joventut Badalona because he disagree about the sum of money that he had to pay to the team in order to play in other team-I think that Ricky and his parents signed the contract without any pressure, isn´t it?-; Ricky´s unclear statement about his NBA new team, Minnesota Timberwolves; the interest from teams like Olympiakos, Real Madrid, New York Knicks or Regal FC Barcelona to sign the young guard-finally the catalan team got the play of the Spanish guard after a transfer fee of 4.2 million euros, which means that it is the most expensive transfer in the history of the European basketball. We'll see if this transfer is a good business for FC Barcelona, since nowadays Ricky is just a good player, especially defensively, he is a player who FC Barcelona needed to complete the guard´s position, since Jaka Lakovic is especially a shooter and the other guard,Victor Sada, is worker player. But I do not know if to spend 6 millions euros in 2 years(transfer fee + the salary) in this player is the best idea,since this player has not a big experienced in crucial games, like other European guards like Sarunas Jasikevicius(4 times Euroleague´s champion), Theo Papaloukas(2 times Euroleague´s champion) or Dimitris Diamantidis (2 times Euroleague´s champion), who had cost less money. I think the Ricky´s presence is not a guarantee to win the Euroleague, but this was the Joan Laporta´s decision, which can be another example of his mismanagement-;an apparent agreement between the Joventut Badalona and Minnesota Timberwolves for the Ricky´s transfer at the last minute to play this year in the NBA-I do not know if this agreement was true, since there have been many half-truths about the Ricky´s situation during the last 5 months...So, Ricky generated much news during these months and certainly finally it was a bored issue, so we have to congratulate to see the end of this story. Now it's time to see Ricky on the floor, growing as a player and improving his 5-6 metres shot to have many chances to be in 2 years in the starting lineup of any NBA team. Después de 5 meses de tiras y aflojas el culebrón del verano ha llegado a su fin y Ricky Rubio ha sido presentando como nuevo jugador del Regal FC Barcelona tras firmar su contrato que lo vinculará a la entidad culé durante las próximas 6 temporadas.
La verdad es que el affaire Ricky ha sido un asunto un tanto peculiar pues durante todo estos meses hemos visto de todo: la decisión del jugador de presentarse al Draft de la Nba-se supone que a este nivel cuando un jugador decide presentarse al Draft es porque él y su agente(Dan Fegan) tienen las cosas más o menos claras en cuanto a su futuro y que han hablado con los equipos que tienen un interés real y claro en el jugador y en base a estas conversaciones se toma la decisión de presentarse, que tras lo ocurrido parece que no fue la mejor elección-; declaraciones de Ricky y/o de su entorno no demasiado afortunadas-no entiendo cómo pueden aparecer declaraciones en las que más o menos se da entender que Oklahoma City Thunder y Memphis Grizzlies no son equipos suficientes para Ricky. Después ocurre lo normal en estos casos, que estos equipos se decantaran por otros jugadores en el Draft-;decisiones desacertadas de Ricky y su entorno-según el Sacramento Bee, Dan Fegan se negó a que Ricky hiciera para Sacramento Kings un entrenamiento con otros rookies y claro Sacramento que era el equipo que Ricky quería, pasó del base español-; la demanda de Ricky Rubio contra el Joventut de Badalona a causa de la cláusula de rescisión-digo yo que a Ricky y a sus padres no le pusieron una pistola cuando firmó el contrato profesional con la “Penya”-: declaraciones de Ricky y su entorno no demasiado claras sobre la posibilidad de jugar en Minnesota; interés de equipos como el Olympiakos, Real Madrid, New York Knicks o Regal FC Barcelona-al final el equipo catalán se llevó el gato al agua tras pagar 4,2 millones de euros al Joventut de Badalona, que significa que es el traspaso más caro de la historia del baloncesto europeo. Ya veremos si el FCB acierta con esta operación, nosotros tenemos muchas dudas, pues hoy por hoy Ricky es simplemente un buen jugador sobre todo defensivamente, un jugador que el FCB necesitaba para completar la posición de base, pues Jaka Lakovic es sobre todo un tirador y Víctor Sada es todo pundonor. Pero dicho esto, si la llegada de Rubio al Barça le va a costar 6 millones de euros en 2 años, ¿no hubiese sido mejor que el ”gran” Laporta hubiese apostado por lo seguro y hubiese destinado ese dinero para fichar a jugadores como Sarunas Jasikevicius(4 veces campeón de la Euroliga),Theo Papaloukas (2 veces campeón de la Euroliga)o Dimitris Diamantidis(2 veces campeón de la Euroliga), que son jugadores totalmente hechos y que son sinónimos de títulos europeos?-; un aparente acuerdo entre el Joventut de Badalona y los Minnesota a ultima hora para Ricky jugase ya este año en la Nba-no sé hasta que punto era cierto, porque en toda esta historia sobre Rubio hay muchas medias verdades-…
En fin, demasiadas noticias generadas por Ricky durante estos meses y lo cierto es que al final llegaban hasta aburrir, con lo que nos tenemos que congratular por haberse puesto punto final. A partir de aquí, es momento de que Ricky hable en la pista, que crezca como jugador, que mejore el tiro exterior, que “viva” partidos importantes en la Euroliga y si dentro de 2 años está realmente preparado-yo creo que hoy no lo está- se vaya a la Nba como base titular de cualquier equipo.
La semana próxima comienza el Eurobasket, será un buen momento para seguir creciendo y demostrando su potencial.

LAS PREGUNTAS SOBRE EL NUEVO REAL MADRID

Después de la tormenta, viene la calma. Al menos se dicen. Tras la ola de fichajes de Florentino Pérez, surgen dos preguntas claves para el destino de esta temporada: 1) Cuál será la alineación ideal, y 2) si podrá Pellegrini manejar el vestuario? Intento contestar las dos preguntas.

Por un lado, decir que al Real Madrid de 2008 le sobraban los volantes y le faltaba un extremo de lujo-especialmente por la derecha, aunque posiblemente también por la izquierda, pues Robben fue demasiado intermitente-. Ahora, con Robben, Kaka, y Cristiano Ronaldo, el equipo no debería carecer de ideas, de imaginación y de amplitud en el juego. ¿Pueden jugar las tres a la vez? Quizás. Cristiano Ronaldo ha jugado de delantero antes, y con su altura y físico puede “hacer estragos”en cualquier posición. Pero con su velocidad y regate, yo lo prefiero ver pegado a la banda-en cualquiera de ellas-. Kaka suele jugar de enlace, detrás de dos delanteros, pero también ha jugado de extremo. Entonces, la mejor alineación seria un delantero de punta, con Kaka y Ronaldo atrás, teniendo ambos plena libertad de movimientos.

La pregunta del millón: qué delantero debería ser titular? Por un lado Raúl tiene experiencia pero está en su declive, Huntelaar tiene las horas contadas-no entiendo cómo el Real Madrid se puede desprender del ariete holandés, pues sin contar con demasiados minutos, ha demostrado que tiene olfato-, y por otro lado, creemos que Benzema va a necesitar un año para acostumbrarse a La Liga y para demostrar que es un jugador capacitado para jugar en un grande europeo, con lo que entendemos que el puesto de titular debe ser para el Pipita Higuaín, que viene de realizar una temporada esplendida-22 goles en 34 partidos-, mostrando velocidad, movilidad, llegada y gol.

Con relación a la segunda cuestión, algunos dudan sobre la capacitación de Pellegrini, sobre si sabrá “llevar” a un vestuario tan repleto de estrellas. Pellegrini viene de un mundo distinto, pues si bien es cierto que en el Villareal entrenaba a buenos jugadores como Capdevilla, Senna o Pires, hay que decir que ninguno de ellos tiene la consideración de crack mundial, con lo que el chileno no tuvo demasiados problemas durante la última temporada para lidiar el banquillo amarillo. En cambio, sí que los tuvo cuando en el Villarreal jugaba Riquelme, medio con la vitola de estrella y de carácter complicado, con lo que al menos hay que plantearse si Pellegrini sabrá o no moverse con tanta estrella a su cargo...
Al principio de la temporada, dudamos de que el Real Madrid arranque con el pie derecho, pues los jugadores necesitarán tiempo para conocerse, pero está claro que peleará hasta el final por la Champions y por la Liga. Quizás, tal como se está configurando la plantilla, le faltará la consistencia necesaria para poder vencer un campeonato tan largo y complicado como la Liga española, en la que prima la regularidad. Pero aún en el caso de que conquistasen algún título importante, hay que preguntarse si Pellegrini logrará permanecer en el cargo o si le ocurrirá lo mismo que a Fabio Capello o Vicente Del Bosque, quienes tuvieron que “hacer las maletas”, pese a conseguir buenos resultados, pues ya sabemos que en el Bernabeu no es suficiente ganar, se exige algo más. Dentro de un mes empezaremos a contestar estas cuestiones.

Después del anuncio de esta mañana en la página web del Manchester United sobre el acuerdo entre el Real Madrid y el United (96 millones de euros por el traspaso)acerca de la llegada del crack portugués Cristiano Ronaldo al Real Madrid, Saqueneutral ha podido saber que el club presidido por Florentino Pérez sigue moviendo ficha para conseguir los fichajes de estrellas nacionales e internacionales y realizar de esta forma una auténtica revolución en la plantilla merengue y formar un equipo que aspira a conseguir todos los títulos en disuta.
Podemos adelantar que el siguiente en llegar de forma inminente a Concha Espina será el mediocampista internacional español Santi Cazorla, que en estos instantes se encuentra en Sudáfrica concentrado con la selección española para disputar la Copa Confederaciones.

During the last days, names like Kaká, Ribéry, Samuel Eto'o or Zlatan Ibrahimovic monopolized the information of the some media, talking about their future, but in Saqueneutral we want to speak about another name whose immediate future just be decided. We refer to the best handball player in the world, the French Nikola "the Serbian" Karabatic, who after the defeat in the final of the EHF Handball Champions League against the Ciudad Real, announced that he will not continue playing in THW Kiel, which is the best team of the powerful Bundesliga. During recent weeks the handball´s fans was eager to know if the rumour about a new Karabatic´s destination was true and which team would be the “winner”, being the top candidates 2 teams like Ciudad Real-current European Champion- and especially the powerful FC Barcelona, whose president, Joan Laporta wants to have again a great handball´s team. Finally, as we say, the rumour was confirmed and Karabatic has decided to finish his successful period in the powerful German Bundesliga, where he has won many Championships-1 EHF Champions League (2 times he lost the final), 5 German leagues, 2 German cups and 1 EHF Champions Trophy- and surprisingly, rejecting an important FC Barcelona´s bid, he has decided to sign for “his team”, the team where he started to be a handball´s star and where he won his first Champions League, this team is the Montpellier Handball, a team with prestige, but it is or was during the last years in a step below the top teams. The reasons to leave to leave Kiel and to discard the FC Barcelona´s bid to sign with Montpellier are: he has illusion to play with his brother Luka and besides he wants to come back home, playing in a league less competitive and demanding as the French league and thus be 100% in the Champions League and the French national team´s game, and finally, of course there is an economic component, since Nikola has some businesses in that area and he can control better these business playing in Montpellier. En los últimos días, nombres como los de Kaká, Ribéry, Zlatan Ibrahimovic o Samuel Eto´o acaparan las portadas de los medios de comunicación con informaciones acerca de su futuro, pero en Saqueneutral queremos darle cabida a otro nombre cuyo futuro más inmediato acaba de ser decidido. Nos referimos al mejor jugador de balonmano del mundo, al francés Nikola “el Serbio” Karabatic, que tras perder la final de la EHF Champions League frente al Balonmano Ciudad Real, anunció que no iba a continuar jugando en el todopoderoso equipo alemán del THW Kiel-gran dominador de la potente Bundesliga-.
Durante las últimas semanas el mundo del balonmano estaba ansioso por conocer si era cierto el rumor sobre el cambio de equipo del determinante y genial Karabatic y cuál sería su nuevo destino, apareciendo como grandes candidatos para disfrutar de su juego 2 equipos como el Ciudad Real y sobre todo el FC Barcelona, cuyo presidente, Joan Laporta quiere volver a ver a esta sección entre los grandes del mundo.
Al final, como decimos, el rumor se confirmó y finalmente Karabatic ha decidido cerrar su exitoso ciclo en la potente Bundesliga alemana, en la que lo ha conseguido todo-1 Champions League(2 veces subcampeón),5 ligas, 2 copas y 1 EHF Champions Trophy-y sorprendentemente, rechazando una gran oferta del FC Barcelona, ha decido fichar por el equipo de toda su vida, el que le dio a conocer y con el que consiguió su primera Champions League, el Montpellier Handball, que es un equipo con prestigio, pero que en los últimos años está o estaba un escalón por debajo de los grandes.
Las razones que ha dado este campeón de Europa (2006), del Mundo (2009) y Olímpico (2008) para dejar el Kiel, descartar al FC Barcelona y fichar por el Montpellier han sido además de la ilusión de jugar junto a su hermano Luka, pues que tenía ganas de volver a casa, de jugar en una liga menos competitiva y exigente como es la francesa y de esta forma estar al 100% en los partidos importantes de la Champions League y de la selección francesa, y finalmente, como no, también hay un componente económico, pues Nikola tiene una serie de negocios por esa zona y jugando en el Montpellier los podrá controlar mejor.
En fin, grandísimo fichaje para el Montpellier que tratará con la ayuda de Karabatic el volver a ser el mejor de Europa-jugadores tiene, pues en las filas del Montpellier vemos jugadores importantes como Michaël Guigou, Vid Kavticnik o Joel Abati-

Finally, Aziz Yildirim, the re-elected president of Fenerbahçe yielded to the pressure and he decided to dismiss, after a bad season, the peculiar Luís Aragonés, who continues with his bad behaviour and the other day, when he arrived to Madrid, he insulted an Antena3TV´s journalist. The truth is that this dismissal was quite predictable because the team showed a very poor level during the season and almost every week the team "delighted" with it slow, apathetic, without concentration play, thinking that Fenerbahçe could win the games in anyway and obviously it is almost impossible to win playing with this way and although the players have quality. Aragones can not excuse saying that the players did not have the enough level, since this team is almost the same during the Zico´s period, when Fenerbahçe showed a very nice and quickly play.

In fact, if we analyze the results obtained by Luís, we see that Fenerbahçe showed a good performance when it played against the top Turkish teams(it only lost one game, the played at Sivasspor´s stadium) and therefore it means that the team was good and it had many chances to win the Süper Lig´s title but Luis was not able to motivate the players when they had “easy” games against modest teams, which found an easy rival when they played against Fenerbahçe, since the Istambul´s team was in these games a team without ideas, with many problems in all the lines: Güiza or Semih Sentürk played very lonely, the team played many times without a specific right midfielder, the defensive line was very fragile, players like Deivid or Kazim-Kazim playing very far from their best level…and besides the team did not have a boss on the bench, since Luís Aragonés was not able to look for solutions and many times he committed many mistakes with the tactics or the substitutions, seeming that he had not the control of the team and that the players did what they wanted, seeing that the coach did not take any drastic decision- like for example when he decided to dispense with Raúl during his period as Spanish national coach. If he had taken these decisions during his Fenerbahçe´s period, maybe the team had performed better, but he was not brave-. So, it was clear that Luis Aragonés could not continue as Fenerbahçe coach and it is normal and logic the decision of the president. CRÓNICA DE UNA MUERTE ANUNCIADA (article in English and en Español)

Finalmente Aziz Yildirim, el re-elegido presidente del Fenerbahçe cedió a las presiones y no tuvo más remedio que destituir, tras una mala temporada, al peculiar Luís Aragonés, que por cierto sigue con su mala educación, como nos mostró a su llegada a Madrid cuando insultó a una periodista de Antena3 televisión.
La verdad es que esta destitución era algo muy previsible pues el equipo de Luís ha mostrado durante todo el año un nivel de juego muy bajo y prácticamente cada semana nos “deleitaba” con un ritmo de juego muy lento, jugando con mucha apatía, desidia, sin concentración, pensando que los partidos se ganan sin jugarlos y evidentemente jugando de esta forma es casi imposible cumplir los objetivos, por muy buen equipo que tengas-Aragonés no puede excusarse en el equipo no daba para más, pues hace un año estos mismo jugadores, con Zico en el banquillo, deleitaban a la Europa futbolística y de hecho si analizamos los resultados cosechados por Luís vemos que Fenerbahçe ha rendido cuando ha jugado contra sus rivales directos(de todos los partidos disputados contra los otros 4 equipos punteros sólo perdió 1 partido, el disputado en el campo del Sivasspor), con lo que nivel de plantilla tenía de sobras para mostrar algo más-.
Quizás el problema de Luís fue el de no saber o no poder motivar a sus jugadores cuando el equipo jugaba contra equipos modestos, pues muchos de estos equipos encontraron en el Fenerbahçe, a un auténtico coladero que hacía aguas por todos los lados, Güiza muy solo, sin jugadores específicos de banda derecha, con una línea defensiva muy insegura, con jugadores como Deivid o Kazim-Kazim fuera de forma, en fin, un desastre, un barco que se iba a la deriva en cada partido, que navegaba con un capitán que no supo o no tuvo la valentía para tomar decisiones drásticas (como cuando en su época de seleccionador nacional apartó a Raúl de la selección española) y evidentemente tiene el final que se merece, la destitución.
Estaremos atentos al futuro del “Sabio” de Hortaleza y del Fenerbahçe, que por el momento ha fichado a Christoph Daum como entrenador y ya veremos lo qué el técnico alemán decide sobre los otros españoles del equipo, Dani Güiza y Josico-suponemos que Josico no continuará (su rendimiento ha sido muy irregular y hoy por hoy está muy por debajo de otros jugadores del equipo que juegan en la misma posición como Selcuk Sahin) y que Güiza prolongará su estancia en Estambul( su temporada-con una buena recta final- ha sido bastante correcta si tenemos en cuenta las circunstancias: las tácticas y cambios sorprendentes de jugadores que Luís hacía en muchas ocasiones y que tenían como consecuencia que Dani jugase demasiado solo en el ataque).

After a spectacular season, finished with the great Champions League´s win in Rome last Wednesday, FC Barcelona works to satisfy the Pep Guardiola´s requests, since the winner coach wants a more competitive team-if it is possible- to confront with guarantees next hard and long season-remember that FC Barcelona´s players will play many games, since they will play the Liga, King´s Cup, Champions League and besides they will have a long journey to Japan to play the teams´s World Cup and besides next summer 2010, the players will play the World Cup in South Africa-.

Después de culminar una temporada espectacular con la victoria en la final de Champions en Roma el pasado miercoles,el FC Barcelona ya trabaja para satisfacer las peticiones de Pep Guardiola, que quiere una plantilla más competitiva-si es posible- para afrontar la próxima temporada que será dura y larga pues a la liga, copa y champions, habrá que añadirle el viaje y partidos del Mundial de Clubs y el Mundial de la FIFA de Sudáfrica.
El primer refuerzo que parece que tendrá Pep Guardiola será un delantero y concretamente el delantero uruguayo del Atlético de Madrid Diego Forlán, cuya magnífica temporada-posiblemente termine el año como Bota de oro europeo-ha despertado el interés de muchos clubs europeos y entre ellos el FC Barcelona como anunció el diario Marca o el As hace unas semanas.
Pues bien, la llegada del charrúa al FC Barcelona parece inminente, pues como ha podido saber Saqueneutral, Diego Forlán ya ha llegado a un acuerdo con el FC Barcelona y de hecho ya tiene elegida una casa para residir en Sant Cugat del Vallès, población muy cercana a Barcelona, con lo que parece en los próximos días se anunciará su fichaje si las negociaciones entre el FC Barcelona y el Atlético de Madrid llegan a buen termino-recordemos que Diego Forlán tiene una cláusula de 36 millones de euros-.
Estaremos atentos a si se confirma esta llegada y de confirmarse, ver qué ocurre con Samuel Eto´o-parece que tiene los días contados- o/y Thierry Henry.

So, the magpies´s fans needs to see a big miracle to see their team playing next season in Premier League…this is football, ¿who could think up 9 months ago that this team-players like Michael Owen, Obafemi Martins, Fabricio Coloccini, Damien Duff, Gérémi, Mark Viduka and Nicky Butt- would be in this situation? ... the final result, this Sunday at 17.00 CET.

Últimas jornadas en las principales ligas europeas, o lo que es lo mismo, jornadas de alta tensión, pues muchos equipos se juegan su futuro más inminente en 1 o 2 partidos decisivos.
Por un lado, en Inglaterra, después de que el Manchester United cumpliera con los pronósticos, proclamándose la pasada jornada campeón de la Premier League, toda la atención debe recaer en la zona de descenso, pues es más que probable que un histórico y poderoso como el Newcastle United descienda de categoría. Está claro que el Newcastle es un claro ejemplo de que lo que mal empieza, mal acaba, pues recordemos que el equipo de St James´ Park tuvo un comienzo convulso tras la dimisión del entrenador, Kevin Keegan que se fue tras el fichaje del delantero español Xisco, pues entendía que no era lo que el equipo necesitaba, ya que el Newcastle era un equipo muy descompensado, con demasiados delanteros, pero con poca creación y evidentemente el tiempo le ha dado la razón, pues durante este año hemos visto a un Newcastle roto, sin ideas, sin creación en medio campo, con un juego muy previsible y primitivo, muy fácil de defender y ahí están los resultados 7 victorias en 37 partidos-2 en los últimos 19 partidos-, llegando a la última jornada con el agua al cuello, pues tiene que ganar en un campo difícil como es Villa Park y luego esperar un tropiezo del Hull City-jugará en casa ante un Manchester Untied que tendrá la cabeza en Roma- o del Sunderland que recibe a un Chelsea que poco se juega. En fin, las urracas lo tienen muy difícil y salvo milagro veremos como desciende un equipo con jugadores como Michael Owen, Obafemi Martins, Fabricio Coloccini, Damien Duff, Gérémi, Mark Viduka o Nicky Butt…el desenlace, este domingo a las 17.00 c.e.t.

Por otro lado, también está la cosa muy interesante en la Liga española, pues si excluimos a los 3 primeros clasificados, prácticamente el resto de equipos se lo juegan todo en los 2 próximos partidos, siendo decisivos los partidos entre el Villarreal CF y el Valencia CF-el que pierda se despedirá de poder jugar la próxima temporada en la Champions League(el Valencia jugará sin Manuel Fernandes y sin David Silva y el Villarreal sin Santi Cazorla) y entre el Numancia y el Getafe-partido clave para ambos equipos, pues como el Numancia gane(aunque hay que decir que de momento sólo ha sido capaz de ganar 1 partido como visitante-en el campo del Espanyol-), empatará a puntos con el Getafe y con muchas posibilidades de adelantar al Osasuna que tiene un difícil compromiso en el Camp Nou ante el FC Barcelona-. En fin, jornada de altas emociones en la liga española, como sin duda ocurrirá en la liga alemana, cuyos equipos disputarán este sábado a las 15.30 cet la última jornada, en la que se decidirá el campeón, teniendo todos los números para serlo el Vfl Wolfsburg, que llega como líder en solitario(66 puntos) y sólo tendrá que hacer lo que ha hecho durante toda la temporada, ganar en casa( de 16 partidos disputados, ha ganado 15 y ha empatado 1) su partido ante un tocado Werder Bremen-para algunos Diego no es un jugador decisivo, pero el pasado miércoles quedó claro que el Werder Bremen lo necesita, porque sin él, pocas ideas hay en el campo y de momento Mesut Özil aun tiende mucho que aprender- . En caso que la gran tripleta que forman el genial Zvjezdan Misimovic-19 asistencias durante esta temporada en la Bundesliga(suena como futurible del Bayern Munich)-, Grafite(26 goles) y Edin Dzeko(25 goles-suena para todos los grandes del fútbol europeo) no tenga el día o le pueda la presión y el Wolfsburg pierda el partido, habrá que estar muy atentos al partido entre el segundo clasificado (Bayern Munich) y el tercero (Stuttgart), que están empatados a puntos (64 puntos) y que esperan un tropiezo del Wolfsburg para poder ser el campeón.

Además, reseñar que en la Süper Lig turca es posible que tengamos emoción hasta la última jornada, pues quedan 2 jornadas y el líder es el Besiktas con 65 puntos, seguido por el Sivasspor con 63 puntos y tercero es el Trabzonspor con 62 puntos, con lo que cualquier cosa es posible, pues el Besiktas tiene un derby complicado este domingo a las 19.00 cet ante el Galatasaray que evidentemente pondrá las cosas muy difíciles para intentar evitar que pueda ganar la liga uno de su máximos rivales-el Besiktas es posiblemente el equipo turco que mejor fútbol práctica y está realizando una muy buena 2ª vuelta tras las llegadas de Fabian Ernst(con el alemán en el campo, el Besiktas sólo ha perdido 1 partido) y Yusuf Simsek, pero habrá que ver cómo responden los jugadores ante la presión y ante un rival duro y potente-aunque no está en su mejor momento- como el Galatasaray. Veremos si de una vez el Besiktas puede ganar en Liga a un equipo potente, pues por el momento no ha ganado a ninguno de los 6 primeros clasificados, ya que ha empatado los 2 partidos que ha jugado contra el Trabzonspor, Sivasspor y Bursaspor y ha perdido los 2 partido disputados contra el Fenerbahçe y el partido jugado contra Galatasaray en el Ali Sami Yen, con lo que veremos si el Besiktas, que jugará sin Matías Delgado y sin Mert Nobre, podrá vencer en el estadio del Inönü al Galatasaray que va a ser el juez de liga turca, pues la última jornada se enfrentará al Sivasspor(evidentemente de Luís Aragonés mejor no hablamos, porque su rendimiento está siendo muy bajo, tanto en resultados como en nivel mostrado, con un juego apático y muy lento….en fin, jugando así es normal que esté en 5ª posición a 10 puntos de un líder que como vemos tampoco es que sea el paradigma de autoridad).
Finalmente, indicar que también habrá que prestar atención a la zona del descenso en el Calcio con el decisivo Chievo Verona-Bologna, el domingo 15.00 cet y en Le Championat francés con los partidos Sochaux-Nantes y Olympique Lyon-Caen, el sábado a las 21.00 cet.

People have a fragile memory in many cases and one example is the FC Chelsea´s coach, Mr Guus Hiddink, who criticized the labour of the FC Chelsea-FC Barcelona´s referee, talking about a possible conspiracy and that the referee´s labour was the worst labour that he has ever seen, which it sounds like a joke and bad excuses.
It sounds like a joke because, Mr Hiddink, if I remember correctly, you were the national coach of the Korean national team during the World Cup 02,¿do you remember the bad referee´s labour suffered by Italy and Spain when these teams played against Korea? ¿was it a FIFA´s conspiracy to see the host team playing the semi-finals?Perhaps, now he talks about a possible UEFA´s conspiracy because he knows how this business is.... CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: UNA MEMORIA FRÁGIL (article in English and Español)

Qué frágil es la memoria, no Sr Hiddink?, que precisamente sea usted el que se queja de una actuación arbitral tras un partido y que hable de una posible conspiración y que es el peor arbitraje que ha visto en su vida, suena a coña y evidentemente a excusa de mal pagador.
Suena a coña, porque, Sr Hiddink, si no recuerdo mal usted era el seleccionador nacional de Korea en el mundial del 02, ¿se acuerda del lamentable arbitraje que sufrió Italia en los octavos de final y España en cuartos de final?¿había una conspiración de la FIFA para que el país organizador llegase a las semifinales? Posiblemente ahora habla de una posible conspiración porque sabe cómo funciona este negocio….por cierto, Sr Hiddink, refresque un poco la memoria y acuérdese de lo que dijo sobre el Korea-España del mundial 02 y sobre la actuación del árbitro Gamal al Ghandour, pues dijo algo así como que los equipos que pierden lo que tienen que hacer es Autocrítica y ver lo que han hecho mal durante el partido y no culpar de la derrota a un tercero.¿por qué no lo hace? ¿por qué trata de excusarse y justificar que su equipo no haya sido capaz de cerrar el partido, buscando la posesión del balón y un segundo gol, ante un rival que ha jugado la última media hora de juego con 10 jugadores? Supongo que es difícil explicarlo y lo fácil es cargar contra el árbitro por no pitar un mano de Eto´o o no sé qué falta-Por cierto, si nos atenemos a la normativa, la regla 12 de las Reglas de juego de la FIFA establece que para que sea falta se requiere que se toque el balón deliberadamente con las manos, ¿ realmente se puede decir por ejemplo que Eto´o e incluso Piqué cortaron la jugada con la mano de forma deliberada?.....-
En fin, Sr Hiddink, menos excusas y más coherencia y autocrítica y aprenda a que no se puede jugar con fuego en este tipo de partidos, porque si tienes delante jugadores como Messi, Xavi, Eto´o o Iniesta, lo normal es que al final te marquen algún gol, como ocurrió ayer con el golazo de Don Andrés en el último minuto.
Finalmente, desde que Saqueneutral queremos felicitar al Manchester United y al FC Barcelona por conseguir la clasificación para la final de la Champions League, sin duda son los 2 mejores equipos del año y ambos merecen estar en Roma el próximo 27 de mayo.

CSKA and Regal FC Barcelona will play the first semi-final on Friday at 18.00 cet where we will see a game with and a lot of equality and intensity between 2 teams which defend very well and have a very good collective play with a balanced roster, both with good players in the paint and outside the paint. Normally, CSKA plays with long possessions, slow play´s rhythm and with important defensive concentration during all the game-it is very difficult to see a CSKA´s rival scoring more than 65 points-. The other semi-final between Olympiacos and Panathinaikos is also very open, since both teams have an impressive roster and besides every team knows perfectly the other team. However if we have to chose a favourite, we think that Panathinaikos has more chances to win this semifinal, because:
1-The coach of Panathinaikos, Zeljko Obradovic is a winner and besides he is a specialist in this kind of competitions, since he has won 6 times this trophy(1 with Partizan Belgrade in 1992-the unforgettable last 3 points shot in the last second of the game scored by Sasha Djordjevic-, one with Joventut Badalona in 1994, 1 with Real Madrid in 1995 and 3 with Panathinaikos in 2000, 2002 and 2007 ... amazing).Instead, the coach of Olympiacos, Panagiotis Giannakis, still has to demonstrate as coach what is his performance in this kind of competition.
2-Olympiacos has not convinced us during the season in general and in the 4th final against Real Madrid in particular, because It did not show all the potential that it can show a team with players like Theo Papaloukas, Josh Childress -after his herniated disc, he is not playing with his best level-,Jennero Pargo-no news of his abilities-, Halperin- he is an excellent shooter-, Nikola Vujcic-excellent player ... pure spectacle-, Lyn Greer-he is the key player of the team, since when the team needs 3 points, he has the responsibility to shot-, Ioannis Bourousis-he is playing very well during this season, being a very dominant center-. If we say that this team did not convince is because for example during the last 4th finals against Real Madrid, it was not able to attack a Real Madrid´s no individual defensive system and in fact during this defensive´s style, Real Madrid scored 26 points and Olympiacos only 1 point. So, we will see what will happen if the Panathinaikos´s coach, Obradovic, opts to use a non individual defensive´s system.
3-If you look at the results during this season when these 2 teams have played one against the other, it seems that Panathinaikos knows very well the way to stop Olympiacos, since Panathanikos won 2 games and Olympiacos (last March 1 Olympiacos won 77-75, on November, 23 Panathinaikos won 86-69 and in the Greek Cup final on February 22, Panathinaikos won 80-70).
4-The Panathinaikos´s defensive level, with players like Nikos Hatzivrettas or Dimitros Diamantidis –Dimitros is the best defensive player in Europe-, who will complicated the labour of players like Greer or Halterin, which can be decisive, since if these 2 Olympiacos´s players “are not in the game”, the Giannakis´s team will have many problems to be in the Final.

EUROLIGA: LA FINAL FOUR ESTÁ AQUÍ (article in English and Español)

Este fin de semana, el espectáculo y la emoción la tenemos asegurada en Berlín, pues en la ciudad alemana desde este viernes 1 de mayo hasta el domingo 3 se disputa la Final Four de la Euroliga de baloncesto.
A la cita berlinesa llegan los 4 mejores equipos europeos de esta temporada, el vigente campeón de Europa, el CSKA Moscu, el potente Regal FC Barcelona-cumplió nuestro pronóstico y eliminó en los 4 de final al potente Tau Vitoria de Dusko “soy un perdedor” Ivanovic- y los 2 gigantes griegos, el Olympiacos y Panathinaikos.
La primera semifinal se disputará el viernes a las 18.00 c.e.t entre el CSKA y el Regal FC Barcelona y promete mucha igualdad e intensidad entre 2 equipos que defienden muy bien y que basan su juego en la labor del conjunto con unas plantillas muy bien equilibradas en lo que se refiere al juego interior y exterior. El CSKA juega con largas posesiones de balón, marcando un ritmo lento de jugo y con mucha concentración defensiva durante los 40 minutos dejando en general a sus rivales por debajo de 65 puntos, con lo que al Regal FC Barcelona le interesa jugar con un juego rápido y buscando una anotación alta y un partido un tanto alocado, pues en estas circunstancias de juego, el CSKA no se desenvuelve demasiado bien y suele tener bastantes problemas para poder ganar los partidos; de hecho, el CSKA ha perdido siempre esta temporada en la Euroliga cuando su rival ha anotado más de 70 puntos, con lo que los hombres de Xavi Pascual ya saben lo que tienen que hacer para parar a los Trajan Langdon (10, 3 putos de media, con un 55% en tiros de 2 y un 43% en triples), Erazem Lorbek (elegante pívot que está consiguiendo esta temporada 12,6 puntos por partido -con un 59,9% en tiros de 2 y un 47,1 en triples-y 5,4 rebotes), Matjaz Smodis-fino ala-pivot que tiene un 41,7% en triples), Ramunas Siskaukas- y compañía: mucha concentración defensiva y juego rápido, con lo que deben tener mucho protagonismo los siempre intensos exteriores Gianluca Basile-buen defensor y un gran tirador sobre todo de los tiros imposibles y complicados-, Roger Grimau, Lubos Barton y Victor Sada que deben ser un gran complemento para los Jaka Lakovic y Juan Carlos Navarro(14,8 puntos por partido con un 49,5% en tiros de 2 y 92,6 en tiros libres), cuyo rendimiento va a ser clave para el devenir del partido, aunque evidentemente no nos podemos olvidar del potente juego interior barcelonista formado por un inmenso Fran Vázquez-por fin vemos un gran nivel en el jugador que dijo no a los Orlando Magic-, el siempre intimidador Daniel Santiago, el fenomenal y polivalente turco Ersan Ilyasova-anota, rebotea…jugador total-y el elegante David Andersen -siempre aparece en los momentos importantes- que tendrán una dura pugna en la pintura contra los hombres interiores-Lorbek, Smodis, Terence Morris, Viktor Khryapa (todos juegan bien tanto dentro como fuera de la pintura, con lo que es muy difícil marcarlos)- del laureado Ettore Messina-4 veces campeón de Europa-, que es posiblemente el mejor entrenador de Europa.
Veremos quién se lleva el gato al agua en esta primera semifinal y juega la final contra uno de los equipos de Atenas que disputarán la otra semifinal el viernes 1 de mayo a partir de las 21.00 c.e.t.
La semifinal entre el Olympiacos y el Panathinaikos también se presenta muy abierta pues ambos conjuntos se conocen a la perfección y atesoran unas formidables y completas plantillas, formadas a golpe de talonario. De todas formas si tenemos que quedarnos con uno de estos 2 equipos, quizás el Panathinaikos sale con cierto favoritismo para ganar esta semifinal, pues:

1-El entrenador del Panathinaikos, Zeljko Obradovic, es uno ganador nato y es un especialista en este tipo de competiciones, en la que se mueve como pez en el agua como lo demuestra el hecho de que ya ha conseguido 6 títulos de campeón de Europa ( 1 con el Partizan de Belgrado en 1992-aquel inolvidable triple en el último segundo de Sasha Djordjevic-, una con el Joventut de Badalona en 1994, 1 con el Real Madrid en 1995 y 3 con el Panathinaikos en 2000, 2002 y 2007…casi nada). En cambio, el entrenador del Olympiacos, Panagiotis Giannakis, aun nos tiene que demostrar cómo se desenvuelve en este tipo de competiciones.

2-Olympiacos no nos ha convencido en demasía durante la temporada en general ni en los 4º de final contra el Real Madrid en particular, pues no acabo de mostrar todo el potencial que debe tener un equipo con jugadores como Teo Papaloukas, Josh Childress-tras la hernia discal, le está costando encontrar su mejor nivel-, Jennero Pargo-muy poco protagonismo-, Halperin-su tiro siempre es un seguro-, Nikola Vujcic-el jugador total…puro espectáculo-, Lyn Greer-al final es el que está sacando las castañas del fuego- o Ioannis Bourousis-gran nivel durantes está temporada, siendo un pívot muy dominador-. Si decimos que no nos convenció fue porque por ejemplo este equipo fue incapaz de atacar una defensa zonal del Real Madrid y de hecho el Real Madrid con este sistema defensivo consiguió un parcial de 26-1, que se dice pronto. Seguro que Obradovic tomó muy buena nota de estos problemas que tiene el Olympiacos para atacar este sistema defensivo.

3-Si analizamos los encuentros disputados esta temporada entre estos equipos, vemos como parece que Panathinaikos le tiene tomada la medida al Olympiacos pues de 3 partidos ha ganado 2 y además con autoridad (el 1 de marzo Olympiacos ganó 77-75, el 23 de noviembre Panathinaikos ganó 86-69 y en la final de la Copa de Grecia, el 22 febrero, Panathinaikos ganó 80-70).

4-la solvencia defensiva de Panathinaikos que presenta jugadores como Nikos Hatzivrettas o Dimitros Diamantidis-elegido mejor jugador defensivo de Europa- que seguro que le pondrán las cosas muy difíciles a Greer y Halterin y si estos 2 jugadores exteriores de Olympiacos no funcionan, el equipo de Giannakis tendrá muchos problemas para anotar.
Veremos lo que acontece.

EL MURO INGLÉS CONSIGUE PARAR LA PÓLVORA AZULGRANA

El Barcelona no pudo derribar el muro que plantó Guus Hiddink protegiendo la portería de Petr Cech, y su apuesta por la Champions League se tendrá que decidir en la capital inglesa. El Chelsea salió a defenderse conscientes de que estaban en un escenario donde pocos se han llevado la victoria este año.
El técnico holandés planteó el partido siendo prioritario no encajar ningún gol en el Camp Nou, más que buscar el gol en campo contrario. La jugada le salió bien al también entrenador de la selección rusa. Lampard y Ballack anularon por completo a Xavi, y Essien e Ivanovic, tuvieron problemas, pero al final pudieron con Iniesta. Bosingwa no pueden decir lo mismo de su batalla particular con Messi, con el que todavía tendrá pesadillas un par de días, y eso que le argentino no tuvo el día.
Pep por su parte no se guardó ningún as en la manga. El juego azulgrana fue claro, ataque continuo sin piedad sobre el rival, buscando la máxima renta en territorio local, ya que el viaje a Londres no va a ser fácil. Dejó a Puyol en el banquillo, pero el internacional español tuvo que sustituir al lesionado Márquez en la segunda parte.
El encuentro comenzó como todos esperaban, el Barcelona metido en terreno inglés y los visitantes achicando balones e intentando anular la creación de juego en el centro del campo. Henry fue el único que parecía saber cómo sortear el muro inglés, a lo mejor por su experiencia en Inglaterra, pero sus llegadas siempre acababan en las manos del meta checo. Una de las mejores oportunidades de la primera parte, y aunque parezca mentira, la tuvo Drogba, el cual se aprovechó de un fallo de Márquez, pero no pudo batir a Valdés.
Al comienzo de la segunda mitad se vivieron unos momentos de sustos continuos para la zaga culé. Primero Henry se medio desmallaba tras un golpe con Alex, y aunque se recuperó no volvió a ser el mismo. Después Márquez no tuvo tanta suerte, el solo se lesión’ la rodilla y puede que se pierda la temporada. Tras lo del mejicano, Dani Alves dio otro susto y Guardiola se desesperaba en la banda pensando en el partido contra el Real Madrid.
Todo esto enfrió el partido, lo que claramente beneficiaba al Chelsea, y de hecho no fue hasta el 70’ cuando el Barcelona volvió a tener otra ocasión clara. Eto’o le hizo un caño en carrera a John Terry y le hizo un recorte a Alex, pero su disparo se encontró con Petr Cech. A pesar de estas ocasiones, los centrales del Chelsea estuvieron espectaculares durante todo el partido.
Bojan saltó al campo sustituyendo a Eto’o, lo cual no gustó mucho al Camerunés, pues quería el gol consciente de que la noche de ayer era un buen escaparate. El joven jugador culé tuvo la mejor oportunidad del partido con un remate de cabeza en boca de gol, pero el cuero se le marchó alto. Era la última oportunidad que tenía el Barcelona para salir con algo de renta de este duelo, pero parece que el viaje a la capital inglesa va a ser más complicado de lo esperado.
Aún así ambos equipos tienen que marcar, por lo que en Stamford Bridge a los ‘blues’ no les va a servir salir a aguantar. En Londres se abrirán más los espacios, y la vuelta promete tener más espectáculo que lo vivido ayer.

Finalmente reseñar que hoy United y Arsenal se han visto las caras en la otra semifinal y que el United ha golpeado primero tras una buena primera parte del equipo de Ferguson en la que tuvo bastante acorralado a unos gunners que gracias a la buena labor del meta español, Manolo Almunia, han salido vivos del Teatro de los sueños y tendrán todas las opciones el próximo martes de pasar a la final porque sólo tienen que remontar el gol de O´Shea y porque será difícil ver un peor partido de jugadores como Nasri o Walcott.
La próxima semana tendremos el desenlace de ambas eliminatorias.

During this week the Spanish teams continued playing more Spanish Liga´s games and the results did not changed the situation of the 2 Spanish giants in the standing.
On the one hand, on Tuesday we could watch another bad game, especially during the first half, played by the men of Juande Ramos, whose results are indisputable, but the image showed by Real Madrid ,since the arrival of Juande, is arguable, thus example its first 45 minutes of the match against Getafe were a constant display of mistakes-players like Gago, Higuaín, Guti (during this match which saw the 2 faces of Guti, who is a player capable to make during the same game horrendous mistakes and excellent plays-last Tuesday he made an excellent long assist to Klas Jan Huntelaar but the Dutch striker missed the opportunity to score a goal-) or Sergio Ramos committed a lot of mistakes with the ball-.The players were not in the correct place and they showed a poor defensive and offensive balance…So, a very poor level showed by the Real Madrid players, who could repair during the second half thanks to the heart and pride of them, who want to continue having chances to be the Spanish Champion-by the way, many things occurred during the second half of the game against Getafe, since we could see a very open game, the injury of Robben(he will not play the next 3 games), a Pepe´s tremendous aggression(the Portuguese defender said to the newspaper Marca that he is thinking about his retirement-10 games is the punishment for the action-), a Panenka penalty missed by Javi Casquero, an heroic Real Madrid´s reaction to win the game-.

Moreover in the Spanish liga, we want to remark that there is a big battle between many teams to remain in the Primera División and yesterday RCD Espanyol confirmed our predict and it showed that it has experienced and quality players (De la Peña, Tamudo, Luis Garcia, Jarque, etc) and it could win a “final” at Gijón in the game against Sporting Gijón (0-3), showing that it has many chances to remain in Primera División, which seemed a chimera 4 games ago, but now it is very close to get it, since it is gradually recovering the best level of players like De la Peña, Raúl Tamudo or Luís García(yesterday he made 2 assists).

LA LIGA: DE MOMENTO TODO SIGUE IGUAL (article in English and Español)

Durante esta semana la Liga Española no descansa y los equipos están inmersos en los partidos de la jornada 32, en la que hemos tenido más de lo mismo con relación a los 2 grandes de la competición.
Por un lado, el martes asistimos a otro lamentable juego, especialmente durante la primera parte, del Real Madrid de Juande Ramós, cuyos resultados son indiscutibles, pero sí que es más que discutible la imagen que nos ofrece cada semana el equipo blanco, pues por ejemplo los primeros 45 minutos del partido contra el Getafe fueron una constante “exhibición” de imprecisión-jugadores como Gago, Higuaín, Guti( durante este partido vimos lo que es Guti, un jugador capaz en un mismo partido de lo peor y de lo mejor-gran pase de gol que le dio a Klas Jan Huntelaar que el ariete holandés no supo aprovechar-) o Sergio Ramos fallaban increíblemente pases muy fáciles-, mala colocación, mal balance defensivo y ofensivo, en fin, un despropósito que pudieron arreglar en la segunda parte-tuvimos de todo durante los segundos 45 minutos: otra lesión de “cristal de Bohemia” Robben, partido de ida y vuelta, tremenda agresión de Pepe que hoy ha dicho al diario Marca que se está pensando si se retira, un penalty a lo Panenka lanzado por Javi Casquero, remontada heroica del Real Madrid…-, pero no por el juego, sino por el corazón y orgullo de los jugadores merengues que quieren seguir teniendo opciones de ganar el título liguero, lo cual parece una quimera y no tanto por los 6 puntos de diferencia a falta de 6 jornadas, sino sobre todo por el nivel que sigue mostrando el FC Barcelona, que este miércoles volvió a sacarse de la manga un partido de 10 y eso que enfrente tenía un rival que a priori es rocoso, duro y peligrosos como el Sevilla FC, pero que en todo momento se vio superado por un ciclón blaugrana encabezado por un magistral Andrés Iniesta-lleva un último mes de ensueño y ayer se volvió a salir, marcando un gran gol y dando la asistencia en los otros 3 goles del equipo-, que estuvo muy bien acompañado por el juego Xavi, Henry y Eto´o. Es decir otra exhibición de un equipo que está lanzado para conseguir la triple corona-Liga, Copa del Rey y Champions League- siempre y cuando Joan Laporta no haga de las suyas y no enturbie el ambiente en Can Barça, como parece que va a hacer con su decisión de designar a 2 nuevos directivos, el extravagante catedrático de economía por la Universidad de Columbia, Xavier Sala i Martín, y la “independentista” Magda Oronich-la llegada de Sala i Martín se está viendo con muy malos ojos por parte de un sector importante de los directivos de Joan Laporta, que ven en el catedrático a un duro rival de cara a sustituir a Laporta en la presidencia del Barça, siempre y cuando en las elecciones logren vencer al amigo del perdedor y sobre valorado Felipe Scolari, el ex vicepresidente deportivo del FC Barcelona, Sandro Rossell(el FC Baracelona tuvo fortuna cuando Rossel no pudo firmar a Scolari)-. Veremos en qué medida afecta esta llegada a la marcha de un club en el que por una razón o por otra desde que llegó Laporta a la presidencia es sinónimo de crispación social y de conflicto entre direcitvos-durante estos años de Laporta, hemos visto la marcha de Pesic, la dimisión de Valero Rivera, la dimisión de Sandro Rossell y sus directivos afines, la moción de censura contra Laporta, la dimisión de los vicepresidentes Marc Ingla, Ferran “Mr Power Point” Soriano, Albert Vicens y ahora ésta nuevo conflicto en la cúpula barcelonista, no está mal para 2 mandatos, no, Sr Laporta?

Por lo demás, hoy estaremos muy atentos a lo que acontezca en el Molinón de Gijón a las 20.00 c.e.t pues se jugará el partido entre Sporting de Gijón y el RCD Espanyol de Barcelona, partido decisivo en la parte baja de la tabla, pues una derrota del Espanyol prácticamente significaría su descenso a la segunda división. Veremos lo que ocurre en tan trascendental partido en el que se debería imponer el Espanyol, pues sus jugadores atesoran mucha más experiencia en partidos importantes-muchos jugadores Espanyolistas (De la Peña, Tamudo, Luís Garcia, Jarque, etc) han ganado alguna Copa del Rey o han jugado finales de la Copa de la Uefa-.
Estaremos atentos.

NBA: THE DERRICK ROSE´S SHOW (article in English and Español)

The NBA playoffs started this Saturday and it has done with a first big surprise, since the current champion, the Boston Celtics, missed Kevin Garnett and suffered unexpected defeat at home(the final result was 103-105 after an overtime) in the first game of the series against Chicago Bulls, whose win was especially thanks to a sublime Derrick Rose.

It was an impressive Derrick Rose´s game, showing that he is the best rookie of this season and that he is destined to be a significant player in this competition over the coming years. His 50 minutes on the floor of the TD Banknorth Garden can be described as excellent, because during those minutes, we watched a display of an example of a good playmaker (11 assists with a great connection between Rose and the French center Noah), shot, layup shots and good defense of Derrick Rose, who scored 36 points (12-19 FGP and 12-12 FT)-he is one of the best rookie scorers in a playoff debut in the NBA´s history (he tied the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) - with “impossible” shots , as his first 2 points shot in the third quarter or some 2 points shots during the final minutes of the fourth quarter and showing that he has an excellent performance when he is playing under pressure, since for example he made 2 essential FT during the decisive moments of the game. Anyway, he played as an star and besides he was helped by the intensity of the French center Joakim Noah-17 rebounds!, 11 points (many ally oops thanks to the Rose´s passes), 3 blocks-, by the excellent Ben Gordon´s last 3 minutes of the 4th quarter, by the good and intense minutes of Kirk Hinrich, by the incredible success of Tyrus Thomas during the overtime –he made some essential 5-6 meters shots- and by the painful game of the one of the Boston Celtics´s starts, Ray Allen, who is emulating his pathetic start of the playoffs during last season and today he made an "exhibition" and finished the game with 4 points (1-12 FGP) – to win this first game of this Playoffs´s series, where Chicago Bulls confirmed its good level during the last game of the Regular Season.

We'll see what will be the Boston Celtics´s reaction after this disappointed game, played without the classical Boston´s intensity- especially during the first half-, and without two members of the Boston´s "Big Three"- Garnett was injured and Allen was very unlucky-, which is a big advantage to the rivals, because it is not enough to win this kind of games the good labour of Paul Pierce (23 points, with 8-21 FGP), Rajon Rondo (29 points, good game although maybe he made too risked plays-9 rebounds and 7 assists) and Glen "Big Baby" Davis (18 points).
The answer will be next Monday at Boston.

NBA:EL SHOW DE DERRICK ROSE (article in English and Español)

Este sábado han comenzado los Playoffs de la NBA y lo han hecho con la primera gran sorpresa de estas series, pues el vigente campeón los Boston Celtics parece que han acusado la baja de Kevin Garnett y han perdido en su cancha ante los Chicago Bulls de un sublime Derrick Rose.
Impresionante el partido que se ha sacado de la manga el mejor rookie de este año y que está llamado a ser un jugador trascendental de esta competición durante los próximos años. Magistrales se pueden calificar sus 50 minutos disputados en el TD Banknorth Garden de Boston, pues durante estos minutos hemos asistido a una exhibición de dirección (11 asistencias-una gran conexión entre Rose y el center francés Noah-), tiro, entradas a canasta, de lectura del partido e incluso de buena defensa de Derrick Rose, que se ha ido hasta los 36 puntos(12 de 19 en tiros de campo y 12 de 12 en tiros libres)-es una de las máximas anotaciones de un rookie en un primer partido de playoffs(iguala al mítico Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) - con canastas imposibles, como su primera canasta en el tercer cuarto o alguna en los últimos minutos de partido y demostrando que tiene sangre fría y que si tiene que anotar 2 tiros libres en el momento decisivo del partido, los anota como si nada. En fin, partido de mega crack y que si encima está asistido por la gran labor de un correoso e intenso Joakim Noah-17 rebotes!!!, 11 puntos(bastantes ally oops aprovechando los pases de Rose), 3 tapones-, por 3 magistrales últimos minutos del 4º cuarto del base británico Ben Gordon, por los buenos e intensos minutos de Kirk Hinrich, por el increíble acierto en los tiros de 5-6 metros de Tyrus Thomas en la prórroga y por el penoso partido de una de las estrellas de Boston Celtics, Ray Allen-está emulando su patético comienzo de playoffs de la temporada pasada y hoy ha hecho una “exhibición” pues ha finalizado con 4 puntos(1 de 12 en tiros de campo) -, no nos debe extrañar que el partido haya finalizado con victoria-en la prórroga por 103 a 105- de unos Chicago Bulls que llegaban a este playoffs tras un buen nivel final en la fase regular de la competición y que hoy han confirmado dando este golpe encima de la mesa.
Veremos cuál será la reacción de unos Boston Celtics que han jugado sin demasiada intensidad-sobre todo durante la primera parte- y sin dos de los miembros del “Big Three”-Garnett estaba lesionado y Allen jugó “ausente”- y eso es dar mucha ventaja a los contrincantes, pues se necesita algo más para ganar además de un buen Paul Pierce (23 puntos-8 de 21 en tiros de campo), Rajon Rondo (29 puntos-buen partido aunque en algunos momentos arriesgó demasiado-9 rebotes y 7 asistencias) y Glen “Big Baby” Davis(18 puntos)

Capello’s Conundrum

Two moments burn in the England fan’s mind like a stack of hot coals. First, Wayne Rooney trudging alone up front in Germany, growing frustrated as the technical Portuguese passed circles around Lampard, Gerrard, and Hargreaves. Eventually, Rooney would stomp Carvalho, see red, and England would lose in penalties.

Second, at home in Wembley, David Beckham and Peter Crouch enter as substitutes and soon combine for a goal. The euphoria is short-lived as Croatia respond with a stunning goal that would send the Three Lions on an extended summer break.

The quarterfinal exit stung like a bee sting in the spring: painful but passing. The failure to qualify for Euro 2008 induced a collective psychosis: root and branch analyses of the English game emerged. Was the problem not enough training grounds for five year olds? Perhaps England should cease importing stylish continental players?

After the Champions and Uefa Cup´s games with the tremendous FC Barcelona´s spectacle –again the Pep Guardiola's team arrived to the half time of the game with a 4-0 in the score-, the national leagues return with easy games for the important and big teams and besides with the decisive and attractive Istanbul´s derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe.
As we said, the teams, which are playing to be the National Champion in each league, have comfortable games and for example in Spain, FC Barcelona will receive Recreativo Huelva on Saturday at 20.00 CET-¿will be it another 4-0 at half time?- and Real Madrid will play against Real Valladolid on Sunday at 17:00 CET. The same circumstance will be in other championships, since Liverpool FC will receive Blackburn Rovers at Anfield Road on Saturday at 13.45 c.e.t, or Manchester United will play at Sunderland on Saturday at 16.00 c.e.t –, or Olympique Lyon will play against AS Monaco on Sunday at 18.45 c.e.t-it could be a great weekend for the Claude Puel's team because its rival, Olympique Marseille can have a complicated game after its Uefa Thursday´s game and besides other Lyon´s rivals, OSC Lille and PSG will have a direct duel-.

Después de la jornada europea con la tremenda exhibición del FC Barcelona-enésima vez que vemos este año como el equipo de Pep Guardiola se va al descanso con un 4-0-, vuelven la ligas nacionales con partidos en principio asequibles para todos los equipos grandes y con un atractivo derby en Estambul, entre el Galatasaray y el Fenerbahçe.
Como decimos, los equipos grandes y que se están jugando el ser campeones de liga tendrán compromisos asequibles, pues el FC Barcelona recibirá al Recreativo de Huelva el sábado a las 20.00 c.e.t-¿otro 4-0 al descanso-y el Real Madrid recibirá el domingo al Real Valladolid a las 17.00 c.e.t.
Tampoco tendrán compromisos complicados el Liverpool FC-jugará en Anfield el sábado a las 13-45 frente al Blackburn Rovers-,el Manchester United-jugará en Sunderland el sábado a las 16-00- ni el Olympique Lyon-jugará contra el AS Monaco el domingo a las 18-45 y además el equipo de Claude Puel puede ser el gran beneficiado de la jornada pues podría aprovecharse de un posible pinchazo del Olympique Marsella que jugó el jueves Copa de La Uefa y del duelo directo entre OSC Lille-PSG-.
Con relación al derby de Estambul, hay que decir que es un partido decisivo para estos 2 equipos, pues el que no gane este partido prácticamente dirá adiós al título de Liga-aunque esta Süper Lig turca está loca y cualquier cosa puede pasar en cualquier partido-pues a falta de 7 partidos quedaría bastante rezagado con relación al Besiktas y al Sivasspor.
A este partido, los equipos llegan en distinto momento, pues por un lado el Galatasaray viene de ganar 1 solo partido de los últimos 3 disputados-empató a 2 con el Trabzonspor, ganó 0-1 al Gaziantepspor y perdió en el Ali Sami Yen con el Eskisehirspor por 0-1-, mostrando cierta debilidad defensiva-sigue acusando la baja del lesionado Servet Cetin y la marcha de Fernando Meira al Zenit de San Petesburgo-. En cambio, el Fenerbahçe viene en un buen momento, sobre todo si nos referimos a su nivel de juego, pues en sus 2 últimos partidos, posiblemente hemos visto al mejor Fenerbahçe de la temporada, mostrando seriedad y orden y su derrota frente al Bursaspor simplemente puede ser calificada como mero accidente, pues el equipo jugó bien pero pagó unos despistes finales y un penalty más que dudoso sobre Yildirim. Además Luís Aragonés tiene una buena noticia en la delantera y es que por fin Dani Güiza está viendo puerta y recuperando el olfato goleador, pues marcó en los 2 últimos partidos jugados con el Fenerbahçe y viene de hacer la jugada decisiva en el partido Turquía-España, así que además de verlo correr y presionar-esto siempre lo ha hecho durante la temporada-, por fin le vemos cumpliendo el rol por el que fue fichado, marcar goles y siendo decisivo en los momentos importantes como el partido de este domingo en el Ali Sami Yen, donde su equipo posiblemente jugará con la ausencia del genial brasileño Alex, que tiene problemas musculares y hasta última hora será seria duda.

Yesterday, the Champions League´s Quarterfinals started with good games and with the excellent play from some players.
On the one hand, in the match between Villarreal CF and Arsenal FC, we think that the most remarkable player was the Arsenal's Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who returned to show that when he is at 100%, he is one of the best forwards of the world and yesterday he was a constant nuisance for the defensive line of “the yellow submarine”, which had many troubles to stop the mobility, the ball controls behind the Villarreal´s defensive line back, the power and the quality from Adebayor, who finally had a reward and thanks to a Cesc Fábregas´s assist, he could score a very important and nice goal, which permits to Arsenal to play with some calmness the 2 leg at the Emirates Stadium next week.

On the other hand, on the other great Tuesday´s game between Manchester United and FC Porto, we want to remark the great play showed by the players of Jesualdo Ferreira, whose proposal for this game was excellent, since we could see a FC Porto´s players playing without fear, looking for the victory, and choking down to Manchester United and showing that this team can be European Champion again and that it was not coincidence that it finished in the first position of group(Arsenal, FC Porto, Dynamo Kiev and Fenerbahçe was the group)and that it was the fair winner in the first knockout round against Atlético Madrid. If we have to emphasize any players of this game, perhaps it was very remarkable the play of the Brazilian Fernando-yesterday the game was an exhibition of this Brazilian center midfielder, because he was always in the correct place, stopping the United´s game… it seemed that he had a magnet because the ball always ended up in his feet. This 21 year´s old midfielder is a player to follow, since although he has not a big experience-this is his first season at FC Porto (the Portuguese club paid 720,000 euros for him!),after a year on loan at Estrela Amadora-he is showing that he has a great future and that he is ready to play important games like Yesterday´s game. Alongside Fernando, we want to emphasize the play of Brazilian striker Hulk, which was again “The Incredible" Hulk since he was synonym during all the game of: mobility, quality and danger for the United´s defensive line, whose level is worse when Rio Ferdinand do not play and of course yesterday the play of Lisandro Lopez, Lucho Gonzalez, Cristian "El cebolla" Rodriguez and Hulk was a nightmare for them. About Manchester United, perhaps the best player during the Tuesday´s night was Wayne Rooney, who showed during the game his abilities: the intelligence-he was in the correct place to take advantage of the tremendous Bruno Alves´s mistake- and quality-it was excellent his assist to the decisive “Apache" Tevez during the United´s second goal-, showing that even when Cristiano Ronaldo does not have a good day-maybe the Portuguese star did not play well because he played in the center-, the Sir Alex Ferguson´s team is a very dangerous team and any player of the team can decide the game.

LOS PROTAGONISTAS DE LOS CUARTOS DE FINAL (I)(article in English and Español)

Buenos partidos los que hemos tenido este martes en la primera jornada de los Cuartos de Final de la Champions League en la que ha sobresalido una serie de jugadores.
Por un lado, en el partido entre el Villarreal CF y el Arsenal FC, a nuestro entender debemos destacar el gran partido realizado por el delantero togolés del Arsenal Emmanuel Adebayor, que ha vuelto ha demostrar que cuando está en forma es uno de los mejores delanteros del mundo, pues además de su sensacional gol de “medio chilena”, durante el partido fue un incordio constante para la defensa del submarino amarillo su continua movilidad, sus controles de espalada a la portería, su potencia, calidad, desborde y entrega, en fin, un partido de 10 y al final obtuvo el premio y aprovechó un gran pase de Cesc Fàbregas para conseguir el gol del empate que deja al Arsenal en clara franquía para conseguir en el Emirates Stadium el pase a las semifinales de la Champions League.

En el otro partidazo de este martes entre el Manchester United y el FC Porto, hay que destacar el impresionante partido que se sacó de la manga los jugadores de Jesualdo Ferreira, cuyo planteamiento del partido fue para aplaudir, pues el FC Porto jugó sin miedos, buscando la victoria, presionado y ahogando al Manchester United y demostrando que perfectamente puede volver a ser campeón de Europa y que no fue casual que quedase primero de grupo y que eliminase con justicia al Atlético de Madrid en los octavos de final. Si tenemos que destacar a algún jugador de este partido, quizás nos quedemos con Fernando-exhibición la del medio centro brasileño, pues estaba siempre en el lugar necesario, cortando el juego del United, parecía que tenía un imán porque el balón siempre acaba en sus pies. Jugador muy a seguir, sólo tiene 21 años y está jugando su primera temporada el FC Porto(pagó por él 720.000 euros!!!) tras jugar la temporada pasada cedido en el Estrela Amadora- y con el delantero brasileño Hulk, que volvió a ser el “Increíble” Hulk pues su continua movilidad y muestras de calidad fue una preocupación constante para una zaga del United, que sin Rio Ferdinand tuvo bastantes problemas para controlar el juego de los Lisandro López, Lucho González, Cristian “el cebolla” Rodríguez y el desequilibrante Hulk.
Con relación al United, quizás, en la noche en que Cristiano Ronaldo estuvo gris-posiblemente porque jugó por el centro-, haya que resaltar la inteligencia y calidad de Wayne Rooney, que como buen delantero que es, en el primer gol del United supo estar en el lugar correcto para aprovecharse del tremendo fallo de Bruno Alves y en el segundo gol del equipo de Sir Alex Ferguson, se “sacó de la chistera” un gran pase para asistir al siempre decisivo “Apache” Tévez.
En fin grandes partidos los de este martes y esperemos que esta noche se repita el mismo espectáculo y emoción en el FC Barcelona-Bayern Munich y en el Liverpool FC-Chelsea FC.

Of course the news of the days was the tremendous Argentina´s defeat at Bolivia(6-1…I think Juan Román Riquelme is happy with this big Maradona´s defeat), but on this article we will pay attention to other interesting game played this Wednesday between Turkey and Spain, where we could see the mark of a champion team, Spain.
It is true that the Spanish team did not play its best game and if we exclude 15 minutes during the first half and different phases during the second half, when we saw good Spanish plays-good passes and combinations between the Spanish players-, “la roja” had many problems to counteract the Turkish play and specially since Semih Sentürk scored the first goal of the game-Marchena was sleeping during the Semih´s goal-, because from that moment, Spain came down a bit during some minutes. But the big teams and the teams with a winning mentality are those, whose maximum performance appears during the complicated games, with a very hostile environment such as this Ali Sami Yen´s game. ESPAÑA, PASO FIRME AL MUNDIAL (article in English and Español)

Un equipo campeón pasó por Estambul este miércoles en la victoria de España ante una correosa Turquía.
Es verdad que el equipo español no jugó su mejor partido y que si exceptuamos 15 minutos de la primera parte y diversas fases puntuales de la segunda parte en las que pudimos ver el juego de toque de los jugadores españoles, en general el equipo de Vicente Del Bosque tuvo bastantes problemas para contrarrestar el juego de los turcos y especialmente tras el gol de Semih Sentürk-Marchena estaba durmiendo-, España se vino un poco abajo. Pero los equipos grandes y que aspiran a todo, son los que se levantan y saben sacar el máximo rendimiento en todo tipo de partidos y sobre todo en los partidos complicados, con un ambiente muy hostil como el de esta noche en el Ali Sami Yen. Y esto es lo que ha hecho hoy España, que inició bastante bien el partido-sobre todo tras el minuto 10- y parecía que lo tenía todo bajo control hasta que llegó un gran pase de Arda Turan-posiblemente el mejor jugador turco esta noche, sin olvidar el trabajo de Mehmet Aurelio-a Tuncay Sanli, que se aprovechó de un dormido Marchena y dejó el gol en bandeja al delantero del Fenerbahçe Semih Sentürk,1-0 en el minuto 26 y a partir de ahí tuvimos a una espesa España hasta el final de la primera parte y durante unos minutos de la segunda, hasta que llegó un falló-el enésimo de la temporada- del portero Volkan Demirel-era esperable que fallase como dijimos en el artículo de la previa-en un corner, en el que despejo mal un balón que llegó a Torres que consiguió forzar un penalty-su disparo topó en la mano de Ibrahim Üzülmez-que no lo desaprovechó Xabi Alonso (el donostiarra tuvo una noche no demasiado precisa)en el minuto 63 y consiguió el empate en el marcador. A partir de ese momento, vimos un partido muy abierto, pues a los turcos no les valía el empate y tenían que buscar la victoria como fuese-gran ocasión de Semih Sentürk tras pase de Gökhan Gönül- y claro dejaron muchos espacios que fueron aprovechados por los veloces delanteros españoles en varías ocasiones, resaltando una combinación entre Piqué-gran pase de 30 metros tras robar el balón en medio campo-, Santi Cazorla y Torres que estuvo apunto de acabar en gol y claro, la jugada del segundo gol en el que Dani Güiza se aprovechó del despeje de Marchena y de la lentitud de Hakan Balta y dio el gol a un Albert Riera que estaba totalmente solo- al final Turquía acusó los 35 años de Emre Asik y de Ibrahim Üzülmez-, era el minuto 90 y la victoria estaba sellada para la roja, que ya lleva 11 victorias consecutivas y 31 partidos seguidos sin perder y que ahora se acerca casi de manera definitiva al Mundial de Sudáfrica, donde ya veremos si jugará Turquía, pues tras este partido se le complica bastante la clasificación, aunque también es cierto que si juega como hoy, no debe tener problemas en el resto de partidos, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que en principio podrá contar con los centrales habituales-Cetin y Zan- y que jugadores como Nihat no tendrán seguramente una rancha goleadora tan mala y tendrán más afinada la puntería-de momento el delantero del Villarreal no ha marcado ningún gol en toda la temporada- o que Kazim-Kazim estará en mejor forma o que los hermanos Altintop, Mehmet Topuz, Mehmet Topal, Mehmet Yildiz o Ugur Boral jugarán con la selección y que Fatih Terim optará por jugadores más experimentados en los momentos importantes de los partidos-no entiendo como al final le da la responsabilidad a jugadores como Batuhan Karadeniz de 17 años o Nuri Sahin de 20…en fin, Terim sabrá-.

UNOS DECISIVOS ESPAÑA-TURQUÍA (article in English and Español)

El próximo fin de semana vuelve la fase de clasificación para el Mundial de fútbol 2010 y lo hace con partidos muy atractivos como el Portugal-Suecia, el Rumanía-Serbia o el Uruguay-Paraguay. Pero quizás los partidos más interesantes serán los que se disputen en el grupo 5 europeo entre España (primera del ranking Fifa) y Turquía (posición 11 del ranking Fifa), el sábado en el estadio Santiago Bernabeu de Madrid y el miércoles en Estambul.

España llega a estos partidos decisivos con cierta tranquilidad en cuanto a la clasificación para el Mundial, pues lidera con comodidad el grupo con 12 puntos (4 victorias en 4 partidos, 10 goles a favor y 1 en contra), teniendo a su máximo rival para conseguir la clasificación directa, Turquía-con permiso de Bélgica-, a 4 puntos, con lo que “la roja” puede afrontar estos 2 partidos con cierta calma, sabedora de que incluso les vale empatar ambos partidos. Pero evidentemente España no debería salir al campo con esta mentalidad, pues como no juegue con intensidad y mentalidad ganadora, puede pasar muchos apuros y complicarse de mala manera la clasificación directa, pues Turquía es un equipo que en los últimos años se crece en los partidos ante rivales poderosos(recordemos el buen papel que hizo en la última Euro de Suiza y Austria o el gran mundial que realizó en el 2002 donde acabó en 3ª posición gracias a los goles durante la competición de Ümit Davala e Ilhan Mansiz)y seguro que volverá a hacerlo frente a España.

El equipo entrenado por Fatih Terim llega a estos partidos con ciertos problemas sobre todo en la línea defensiva, pues se van a perder estos compromisos por lesión, jugadores clave como los centrales Servet Cetin(el duro y contundente central del Galatasaray es el pilar defensivo de una selección con la que ha jugado 35 partidos) y Gökhan Zan del Besiktas(28 partidos con la selección)-tampoco podrá estar otro central del Galatasaray, Emre Güngör-. Estas lesiones son muy importantes, pues éstos son los centrales habituales y experimentados para este tipo de partidos de la selección turca y sin ellos, el rendimiento defensivo va a ser una incógnita-ya lo iba a ser de todas formas, pues teniendo en el equipo a Volkan Demirel o Rüstü Recber como porteros, cualquier cosa mala te puede pasar a lo largo de un partido…parece mentira que un equipo tenga 2 porteros tan irregulares, capaces de lo peor en cualquier momento-, pues Fatih se va ver forzado a alinear o bien a centrales muy veteranos como Emre Asik del Galatasaray (35 año) y que ya no están en su mejor momento y que lo puede pasar muy mal con la velocidad de Fernando Torres o bien alineará a gente inexperta para estos partidos como Ibrahim Kas del Getafe (no está teniendo demasiado fortuna en la liga española)o los 2 puntales defensivos de los mejores equipos de Turquía, defensivamente hablando, Eren Güngör(20 años y 1 partido internacional) de Kayserispor y Sedat Bayrak del Sivasspor-líder de la liga Turca-. Suponemos que se decantará por Emre Asik e Ibrahim Kas que jugarán junto al clásico y correcto lateral izquierdo del Galatasaray Hakan Balta (13 partidos con la selección turca) y Gökhan Gönül del Fenerbahçe o Sabri Sarioglu del Galatasaray por la derecha-creo que será Sabri el titular, pues Gönül es un lateral muy ofensivo y su juego podría ser muy bien aprovechado por los delanteros españoles, pues tendrían mucho espacio por esa banda-.

Para contrarrestar los problemas defensivos es probable que Terim opte por alinear un potente mediocampo-finalmente serán bajas por lesión los mediocampistas Mehmet Topal del Galatasaray y Hamit Altintop del Bayern Munich- formado por el polivalente, combativo y elegante Arda Turan-buena pegada con la pierna derecha- del Galatasaray que jugaría con libertad junto a 3 medio centros experimentados como son Mehmet Aurelio del Betis, Ayhan Akman del Galatasaray y el técnico aunque un tanto apático Emre Belözoglu-no está haciendo demasiada buena temporada en el Fenerbahçe-quedando en el banquillo jugadores como la joven perla del Borussia Dortmund Nuri Sahin y un desconocido Kazim-Kazim (decimos lo de desconocido porque está haciendo una temporada horrible en el Fenerbahçe, sin la confianza de Luís Aragonés y mostrando un nivel muy por debajo del esperado tras su gran temporada pasada).

Finalmente como delanteros es muy probable que España se encuentre con el habilidoso Tuncay Sanly-mucha calidad y desequilibrio en este jugador ofensivo del Middlesbrough; mucho ojo con este jugador que en cualquier momento se la puede “liar” a la defensa española- que jugará en el ataque junto posiblemente a Nihat(59 partidos con la selección) del Villarreal-hay que decir que a causa de las lesiones, el delantero turco no está teniendo su mejor temporada-si Terim decide jugar a la contra o bien junto a Semih Sentürk que es un jugador más de área y que tras un comienzo un tanto irregular de temporada debido a lesiones, ya se ha consolidado como el delantero titular del Fenerbahçe, desplazando a un desafortunado Dani Güiza-pero qué hace Güiza en el equipo nacional, pues está jugando fatal, intentar lo intenta, pero está muy poco preciso-.Esperando una oportunidad quedarán en el banquillo turcos jugadores interesantes como el delantero del FC Sochaux Mevlüt Erding(bastante rápido y con buena definición con su pierna derecha), el joven Sercan Yildirm del Bursaspor (buen regate y mucha movilidad en este delantero de 18 años, que está en las agendas de equipos como el Manchester United y que viene de hacer un buen partido contra el Fenerbahçe-forzó el penalty decisivo en el último minuto-), el potente Gökhan Ünal del Trabzonspor (buen remate con la pierna derecha) y el jovencísimo de 17 años Batuhan Karadeniz, que es un buen rematador que juega en el Eskisehirspor cedido por el Besiktas.

En fin, buen equipo y que aunque tenga alguna baja importante seguro que pondrá en apuros a un equipo español que llega a este partido como es tradicional en los últimos tiempos con el debate de Raúl-deportivamente no pude haber ningún tipo de discusión sobre la inclusión de Raúl, pues, un jugador que ha marcado 20 goles en 37 partidos disputados está temporada, debe estar con el equipo nacional. Otro tema es si tiene mala relación con el núcleo duro de la selección nacional y que hace que sea aconsejable su exclusión del equipo-y las críticas de algún equipo-en este caso el Valencia-a la llamada de alguno de sus jugadores… Es decir, lo de siempre. En cuanto al aspecto deportivo, conocidas las bajas de Cesc Fàbregas,Puyol e Iniesta, en principio el equipo será el mismo que jugó contra Inglaterra con la incorporación posiblemente de Santi Cazorla en lugar del lesionado Iniesta, es decir: Iker Casillas(aunque quizás deportivamente está en mejor forma Diego López); Sergio Ramos, Raúl Albiol(o Marchena),Gerard Pique, Joan Capdevila; Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Marcos Senna, Santi Cazorla; Fernando Torres y David Villa. O sea, mucha calidad para seguir con el particular “jogo bonito” español que tanto está haciendo disfrutar a una afición española que está viendo como su equipo nacional lleva 29 partidos seguidos sin perder, lo cual no está nada mal.
¿saldrá España indemne de este doble enfrentamiento contra Turquía?

¿Es Juande Ramos el salvador de los merengues? No se puede negar que el Real Madrid, a pesar de las derrotas con Liverpool, está jugando a un nivel muy alto-sobre todo en cuanto a resultados-. Dentro de dos meses, los merengues incluso pueden voltear la situación y llevarse el título liguero ¿Pero el éxito hay que atribuirlo al entrenador? Simplemente parece que se está aprovechando del trabajo realizado en el pasado por otros-Directores deportivos y antiguos entrenadores-

Para echar adelante, hay que mirar atrás. Fabio Capello y Bernd Schuster llevaron al Madrid a dos campeonatos seguidos. Al principio de esta temporada, los blancos seguían de cerca al Barcelona. ¿Qué pasó? Lesiones de Diarra, Rudd Van Nistelrooy, Pepe, Rubén De la Red, Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder, que evidentemente son un gran contratiempo para cualquier equipo y sobre todo si el entrenador, en este caso Schuster, menosprecia al resto de la plantilla con afirmaciones como que “no es posible ganar al Barça”.

Tras la destitución de Schuster y en un momento de desencanto en la afición blanca, se hizo cargo del banquillo merengue Juande Ramos, pero hay que preguntarse: ¿de dónde salió el técnico manchego? Juande dejó a un Tottenham lleno de talento, en una paupérrima posición en la Premier League y sin ser capaz de sacar algo de rendimiento de una plantilla formada a golpe de talonario-se gastó entorno a los 100 millones de euros-y que tras su marcha, comenzó a funcionar-y no sólo los fichajes de invierno(Keane y Palacios), sino también los jugadores como Modric que llegaron durante el periplo del español en White Hart Lane- y de hecho ahora está totalmente salvado y sueña con entrar en competición europea.

Cuando Juande llegó al Real Madrid, tuvo la fortuna de que los lesionados poco a poco iban saliendo del “dique seco” y así volvieron a los terrenos de juego jugadores fundamentales en el esquema blanco como Pepe y Robben que vieron como se reforzaba el equipo con la llegada de 2 jugadores importantes como Lass y Klass-Jan Huntelaar-el holandés está demostrando una tremenda pegada, pues ya lleva 8 goles en 11 partidos-. Algunos critican a Juande, la elección de Lass en vez de Klass-Jan Huntelaar para jugar la Champions, pero entiendo que no habría cambiado nada en la eliminatoria contra el Liverpool, porque hoy por hoy el equipo de Benítez está muy por encima de este Real Madrid, que sí, tiene talento y juega bien como colectivo, pero creo que a la plantilla le falta “cancha”-sobre todo a jugadores como Lass o Marcelo-. Si el núcleo de jugadores continúa unas temporadas más, puede ser que dentro de 2 años esté en disposición de ganar la Champions.

Juande es el capitán del barco: si hay sol y el viento sopla a su favor-Pepe y Cannavaro defienden a la perfección y Raúl sigue en racha-, todo va bien. Pero cuando surjan inconvenientes, no esperen que Juande sea el salvador, pues como demostró en los Spurs, le cuesta solucionar los problemas y evidentemente tiene los días contados en la casa blanca, pues ni su estilo es el adecuado para el Real Madrid y encima se lleva mal con “vacas sagradas” en el vestuario blanco como Guti.

La próxima semana, la Euroliga de baloncesto vivirá el inicio de los 4º de final de la competición, que es el último escalón antes de la Final Four de Berlín.
Se presume unos grandes encuentros entre los mejores equipos de Europa que han logrado llegar hasta esta fase de la competición, en la que quizás echamos de menos por nombre al Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv-de todas formas ya dijimos en un artículo del pasado mes de octubre (LA EUROLIGA VUELVE (This article is availble in English and Español) que era una incógnita el rendimiento del equipo israelí- y por plantilla el Efes Pilsen de Estambul-es incomprensible la mala (4 victorias y 6 derrotas) temporada de un equipo con jugadores como Charles Smith, Mario Kasun, Preston Shumpert, Bootsy Thornton, Kerem Gonlum, Kaya Peker, Milos Vujanic, Predrag Drobnjak o Michailis Kakiouzis-. Pero del análisis de la competición ya nos centraremos cuando ésta termine, ahora es momento de los 4º de final.

PANATHINAIKOS- MONTEPASCHI SIENA
Mucho tendrá que trabajar el Panathinaikos si no quiere volver a sufrir el fiasco del año pasado cuando no pudo jugar la Final Four. Fácil no lo va a tener, pues el Montepaschi es un gran equipo-el mejor de Italia, donde se pasea desde hace unos años-, con un buen juego exterior, en el que sobresale el elegante base norteamericano Terrell McIntyre-es una auténtica ametralladora (15,3 puntos de media-63.3 % en tiros de 2, 38,6 en triples y 89,5 en tiros libres-, 4,5 asistencias y 1,7 robos), el experimentado lituano Rimantas Kaukenas(14,7 puntos-56.8% en tiros de 2, 39, 4 en triples y 86,8 en tiros libres-) y el fino Henry Domercant (11,3 puntos-43,9% en tiros de 2, 41,8 en triples y 92,3 en tiros libres-), que están bien secundados por el completo Romain Sato- alguien puede entender como Dusko Ivanovic, cuando era entrenador del FC Barcelona, no vio nada en un jugador que es capaz de meter 10 puntos por partido con unos muy buenos porcentajes (50,7% en tiros de 2, 43,9 en triples y 86,7 en tiros libres)…en fin, es Dusko, sin más- y por el trabajador y duro Shaun Stonerook-6 rebotes y 2,4 robos por partido-. Quizás el único problema para el equipo de Simone Pianigiani es que no va a poder contar con Ksistof Lavrinovic, que es uno de los mejores pivots europeos( es un jugador con buena mano-incluso es buen lanzador de triples, lo cual es siempre un incordio para su defensor, pues se ve forzado a salir a cubrir el tiro, dejando desprotegida la zona-y buen reboteador) y que es, sin duda, el dueño del juego interior del equipo de Siena y que su ausencia seguro que será aprovechada por los fenomenales jugadores interiores del Panathinaikos, Nikola Pekovic y Mike Batiste. Ambos son los máximos encestadores (12,5 puntos) de un equipo, que es una auténtica constelación de estrellas-Dimitrios Diamantidis, Sarunas Jasikevicius,Vassilis Spanoulis, Drew Nicholas, Kostas Tsartsaris o Antonis Fotsis- y en él los jugadores se reparten mucho el protagonismo y los minutos de juego- el que más juega es Diamantidis con 27 minutos y el resto están alrededor de los 20 minutos-. El único inconveniente que puede tener el gran Zeljko Obradovic es que es dudosa la participación de Diamantidis en los 2 primeros partidos de la serie, pero en fin, teniendo a Sarunas Jasikevicius-uno de los mejores jugadores de Europa, aunque este año no está a su mejor nivel- tampoco tiene porqué preocuparse mucho.
Pronóstico: el factor cancha va a ser decisivo, Panathinaikos sólo ha perdido 1 partido de Euroliga en el caliente OAKA de Atenas-contra el Regal FC Barcelona- y el Montepaschi Siena no conoce la derrota en el Palasports Mens Sana-con victoria sobre el Panathinaikos incluida (81-76)-, así que 3-2 a favor de Panathinaikos.

CSKA MOSCU-PARTIZAN BELGRADO
El Cska es una auténtica apisonadora y si bien este año no está tan fino como en otras temporada, parece que ya se ha acostumbrado a jugar sin el genial Papaloukas y David Andersen-se marcharon el pasado verano al Olympiakos y al Regal FC Barcelona respectivamente- y que ya han cogido la velocidad de crucero, dejando aparcadas las dudas de la fase regular de la Euroliga, en la que perdieron 3 partidos- una de esas derrotas fue en Moscú contra el Partizan, que dio la campanada y derrotó al gigante ruso por un ajustado 63-66-. Y es que un equipo, con el ganador Ettore Messina como entrenador y con un plantel de jugadores extraordinarios-el elegante base croata Zoran Planinic, el siempre seguro Nikos Zisis (55% en tiros de 2 puntos y 92% en tiros libres), el determinante y competitivo JR Holden, los técnicos y elegantes Erazem Lorbek, Matjaz Smodis, y los determinantes Trajan Langdon “el asesino de Alaska” y Ramunas Siskauskas o los ex nba Viktor Khryapa y Terence Morris…-es casi imbatible cuando sus jugadores están en forma, pues es un auténtico equipazo y no creo que deba tener demasiados problemas ante un Partizan, cuya máxima estrella es su entrenador, el sensacional Dusko Vujosevic-no tiene precio el trabajo que está realizando Vujosevic en el Partizan desde que llegó en 2001, pues le da igual si se van las estrellas(en los últimos años se fueron Predrag Drobnjak, Dejan Milojevic, Nikola Pekovic, Kecman o Kosta Perovic), porque su equipo siempre rinde a las mil maravillas, apoyados por una tremenda afición, que este año llegó a llenar el Arena de Belgrado cuando su equipo jugó contra el Panathinaikos con 22.567 hinchas, que se dice pronto-. Pero por muy bueno que sea Vujosevic, casi hace falta un milagro para que su equipo pueda eliminar al todopoderoso CSKA, porque Partizan es un equipo formado por gente joven que no están acostumbrados a este tipo de partidos-en el actual Partizan no encontramos ninguna súper estrella como lo era el año pasado Pekovic, pero es un buen bloque, con buenos lanzadores como Milenko Tepic (10,2 puntos-38.6 en tiros de 2 puntos, 40,6 en triples, 3,5 rebotes y 3,6 asistencias), el escolta Uros Tripkovic (10, 8 puntos- 41,1 en triples, 84,8 en tiros libres), el pivot Novica Velickovic (11,4 puntos-50,6% en tiros de 2-y 5,2 rebotes)-estos 3 han confirmado nuestros pronósticos en el artículo LA EUROLIGA VUELVE (This article is availble in English and Español) y han sido los que han cogido las riendas del equipo- y Stephane Lasme(11,2 puntos-57,7% en tiros de 2-y 6,7 rebotes). OLYMPIAKOS-REAL MADRID
La verdad es que con este Real Madrid es difícil hacer pronósticos, porque es un equipo capaz de lo mejor-ganó en Moscú al CSKA- y de lo peor-ha perdido partidos a priori fáciles contra equipos como el Panionios on Telecoms (3 victorias en 10 encuentros) o AJ Milano (7 victorias y 9 derrotas)-, pero si tenemos que decantarnos, diríamos que a una serie al mejor de 5 partidos, el Real Madrid tiene pocos números de eliminar al todopoderoso Olympiakos, si fuera al mejor de 3, sería posible el milagro, que Olympiakos tuviera un día tonto y los Felipe Reyes-una garantía de intensidad, carácter y concentración-, Tomas Van den Spiegel-llegó para suplir la marcha del inadaptado Lazaros Papadopoulos-, Louis Bullock-después de un inicio de temporada un tanto dubitativo, poco a poco está recuperando su mejor nivel-, Axel Hervelle, Alex Mumbrú, Jeremiah Massey-me está decepcionando un poco, pues poco tiene que ver con el jugador que deslumbraba en el Aris de Salónica-, Raúl López o Sergio Llull-gran temporada la del joven base mallorquín, llamado a hacer grandes cosas, pues juega con mucha intensidad, tanto defensiva como ofensiva, asumiendo responsabilidades(menos mal para el Real Madrid que Llull ha explotado, porque el que debería ser segundo base del equipo, Pepe Sánchez está realizando una temporada paupérrima-incluso juega peor que durante su etapa en el FC Barcelona, donde no mostró nada de nada)-, pudiesen ganar el Palacio de la Paz y la Amistad de Atenas y después rematar el trabajo en Vistalegre con la ayuda del publico madridista. Pero a 5 partidos y con el factor campo en contra, sinceramente, poco que hacer, sólo salir a disfrutar y ver lo qué pasa cuando delante tienes una constelación de estrellas, fichados a golpe de talonario y que están cumpliendo las expectativas de inicio de temporada-sólo tuvieron un pequeño bajón a finales de la fase regular, del que ya sean recuperado y de hecho han sido capaces de ganar los 2 partidos del Top16 al intratable Tau Cerámica de Vitoria-. Y es que si repasamos la plantilla, es para ponerse a temblar, pues no tiene ningún punto débil, con grandes jugadores en todas las posiciones como los bases Theodoros Papaloukas-el gran director del baloncesto europeo, quizás no está como en otros años pero su calidad y visión no la ha perdido(5 asistencias por partido)-, Jennero Pargo-la última superestrella en llegar, poco a poco están entrando en la dinámica del equipo-, Yotam Halperim-gran clase la del israelí, con un 65,9% en tiros de 2 y 51,4% en triples-, Milos Teodosic-sigue progresando este joven jugador serbio de gran calidad- o Lynn Greer-una auténtica ametralladora-, los ala-pivots Josh Childress-el hombre de los 20 millones de euros por 3 años está cumpliendo, estaba anotando y reboteando bien hasta que tuvo que estar un mes parado a causa de una hernia discal-y Georgios Printezis o los pivots Nikola Vujcic-jugón, anota, rebotea, asiste, en fin, jugador total-, Ioannis Bourousis-otro que Dusko Ivanovic no “supo” aprovechar cuando estuvo en el FC Barcelona…tiene delito!! Porque se está marcando una gran temporada con 12 puntos y 7 rebotes por partido- o Sofoklis “Baby Shaq” Schortsanitis-una lástima que no cuide sus problemas con el peso porque lo tiene todo para ser el pívot dominante del baloncesto europeo-…en fin, calidad para dar y tomar en el equipo que dirige un ganador como Panagiotis Giannakis y que es sin duda el principal candidato para ser el campeón de Europa.

REGAL FC BARCELONA-TAU CERAMICA VITORIA
Los que nos seguís, conocéis el “cariño” que le tenemos al actual entrenador del Tau, Dusko Ivanovic, a ese entrenador que tiene como principal “virtud” el conseguir que un buen jugador no rinda en los momentos importantes. Así que partiendo de esta premisa y siendo coherentes con nuestras ideas, apostamos por el Regal FC Barcelona como vencedor de esta gran eliminatoria entre estos 2 grandes equipos que llegan a este eliminatoria de distinta forma, pues por un lado el Regal FC Barcelona llega lanzado, con una gran defensa y mostrándose intratable pues en la liga española ha ganado de forma consecutiva sus últimos 9 partidos-su última derrota fue el 3 de enero ante el Tau Cerámica(70-74), aunque el Regal FC Barcelona jugó con la importante baja del base esloveno Jaka Lakovic-y en la Euroliga sólo ha perdido 2 de 16 partidos disputados-es el equipo con mejor record de la competición-.En cambio el Tau no llega en su mejor momento de la temporada, ya que en el último mes ha perdido 4 partidos-2 en liga frente Real Madrid y al Iurbentia Bilbao Basket y 2 en Euroliga frente al Olympiakos-, con lo que poco a poco empieza a mostrar las debilidades propias de los equipos de Ivanovic-sus equipos bajan el nivel cuando más presión y partidos decisivos hay y como muestra, el último partido disputado en la Euroliga contra el Olympiakos, en el que el Tau tenía que ganar para acabar primero de grupo y conseguir el factor campo a favor en los cuartos de final…evidentemente el Tau perdió en su pabellón del Buesa Arena este importante partido, qué raro, no? jeje-. Así que, si el Tau sigue con esta dinámica, por muy buen equipo que tenga-quizás el único punto débil es el base sustituto del genial Pablo Prigioni, pues tras la marcha de Planinic al Cska, el Tau no ha encontrado un buen relevo, pues primero Goran Dragic dejó al Tau plantado para irse-no sé muy bien a que-a los Phoenix Suns y luego Mustafa Sakur no cuajo y Vlado Ilievski es demasiado apático-, no creemos que sea capaz de eliminar a un Regal FC Barcelona que tiene muy buena pinta-como el Tau, el Regal Barça tiene algún problema con los bases creadores, pues Andre Barrett no ha cuajado y los otros, Victor Sada y Jaka Lakovic tiene muchas virtudes, pero no la de repartir juego-.
De todas formas, es una eliminatoria para no perderse, pues calidad hay de sobras en ambas plantillas y podemos disfrutar mucho de los duelos entre por ejemplo algunos de los mejores lanzadores del baloncesto europeo Juan Carlos Navarro(50% en tiros de 2 y 91,5 en tiros libres),Jaka Lakovic(está recuperando poco a poco su nivel tras estar un tiempo parado a causa de un tumor), Gianluca Basile(sinónimo de encestar canastas difíciles) contra Igor Rakocevic(53,8% en tiros de 2, 43,5 en triples y 90% en tiros libres) y Mirza Teletovic(75.9% en tiros de 2 y 45.9 en triples) o el intenso duelo en la pintura entre los barcelonistas Fran Vázquez-por fin, estamos viendo su mejor versión-, Daniel Santiago-siempre un incordio para los rivales-y el elegante David Andersen-gran clase-y el siempre competitivo Ersan Ilyasova contra los baskonistas Will McDonald, Pete Mickeal y el gran Thiago Splitter-no tardaremos en ver al brasileño en la NBA, pues es seguro que seguirá los pasos de otros jugadores que pasaron por el TAU como José Calderón, Carlos Arroyo, Raja Bell, Luis Scola, Fabrizio Oberto, Andrés Nocioni o Jorge Garbajosa-.

Pues, no queda claro que se ha retirado Riquelme definitivamente. Supongamos que sí. ¿Maradona piensa meter a D’Alessandro? ¿Se puede comparar el diez pelón de Internacional con el armador de Boca? Al nivel de club, sí. Al nivel internacional, nada que ver. Mientras que Riquelme se fue de Villareal debido a fuertes discusiones con Pellegrini, D’Alessandro volvió desgraciadamente de Europa-no acabo de cuajar en ningún equipo en los que estuvo (Vfl Wolfsburg, Portsmouth y Real Zaragoza)-.

Cuando Riquelme esta de racha y pisa el terreno, los demás compañeros se muestran y llegan como si fuera machina de feria. Desde las tribunas se puede ver y oír el ritmo del equipo, mientras los defensores abajo andan como gallinas degolladas.

Hablando del público argentino, lo más preocupante de la jubilación temprana es el mal manejo que tiene Diego en lo que se refiere al trato personal con diversos jugadores. No todos los jugadores se arrodillan en su presencia. Las críticas lanzadas en ruedas de prensa arden. Maradona no llamó a Riquelme para decirle que no iba a Francia. ¿Si Riquelme ya se había retirado antes, debido a las críticas, así por qué rayos lo vuelve a hacer?

GOLPE DE EFECTO EN LA PREMIER (article in English and Español)

Golpe de efecto en la Premier League tras la contundente victoria del Liverpool FC en Old Trafford, pues por primera vez esta temporada hemos visto algún síntoma de debilidad en un Manchester United, que ahora ve como su ventaja se ve reducida a 4 puntos con relación al Liverpool-aunque hay tener en cuenta que el Manchester United tiene un partido pendiente-.
El partido estuvo muy equilibrado durante la primera parte con una dura pugna entre los dos equipos para hacerse con el control del mediocampo, lo cual hizo que viéramos un partido con mucho “mediocampismo” y con pocas ocasiones de gol y que fueran claves ciertas jugadas puntuales-ya fuesen errores de unos y genialidades de otros-y así, merced a un gran pase del “Apache” Tévez, el siempre cumplidor coreano Ji-Sung Park pudo forzar un penalty-cometido por Pepe Reina-que Cristiano Ronaldo-hoy el luso ha estado bastante apagado, muy bien controlado por Fabio Aurelio- no perdonó y adelantó al Manchester United, que parecía que a partir de ese momento iba a tener el partido controlado, pero llegó otra jugada puntual, cuando Martin Skrtel despejó con contundencia un balón y que el central del Manchester Vidic, en uno de sus peores partidos desde que llegó a Manchester, no supo controlar y su error fue aprovechado por el veloz Fernando Torres que encaro la meta contraria y definió con maestría ante Edwin Van der Sar, consiguiendo de este modo el empate y que su equipo se volviese a meter en el partido y generar ciertas dudas en la defensa del United, que volvió a ser superada en el minuto 44 cuando Torres conectó con el capitán Steven Gerrard que pudo forzar un penalty-fue derribado de forma clara por Patrice Evra- que el propio Gerrard se encargó de transformar.
Tras el descanso el United se volcó y presionó al Liverpool, buscando el empate, pero cuando Sir Alex Ferguson se decidió poner toda la carne en el asador y dio entrada a la vez a Berbatov, Giggs y Paul Scholes, llegó otro error de Vidic, que volvió a perder un balón y para evitar el gol de Gerrard, tuvo que cometer una falta-que fue magistralmente lanzada por Fabio Aurelio, que consiguió de esta forma el 3 gol- y fue expulsado, lo cual significó el fin del partido para el United, que aunque siguió poniendo pundonor, buscando recortar la diferencia en el marcador, aun tuvo que ver como otro error defensivo, significaba que Dossena-pase largo de Reina, la defensa del United no sabe controlar el balón y el lateral italiano marcó desde fuera del área- marcase el 4º y definitivo gol de un partido que pone la liga al rojo vivo con 10 jornadas por jugarse.
Veremos quién se lleva la Premier, si el Manchester-veremos si acusa el resultado de este sabado-, el Liverpool o el “nuevo” Chelsea de Hiddink, que tiene este domingo(14.30 cet) un partido complicado contra el Manchester City

A REVISION OF THE FIRST KNOCKOUT ROUND OF THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

During this weekend, the top European team played the 2 leg of the Champions League´s first knockout round and of course we have some winners and other losers.
The big winners were FC Barcelona, Liverpool FC, Manchester Untied, Bayern Munich and Chelsea FC. On the one hand, we watched an incredible FC Barcelona´s first half of the game played against Olympique Lyon, whose players could not make anything to stop the electric passing game of FC Barcelona, whose players made an exhibition both with the ball and when they pushed the rival, whose ball possession was minimal during many minutes of the game, since there was always a FC Barcelona´s player pushing the Olympique´s defenders and of course they lost many balls and committed some mistakes-like Boumsong during the 2 first FC Barcelona´s goals- and of course the result during the first half was clear, 4-1 and it seems that FC Barcelona recovers the great level after a last doubtful month.
Moreover, we want to remark the efficiency of Liverpool FC-it is clear that Rafa Benitez is a great coach for this kind of round…it is a pity that his players do not play with this intensity in all the Premier League´s game, but this is a topic for another article-, Chelsea FC-of course, it was a great decision the departure of Scolari, cause now we have a “new” team, with the players united and besides with the best Drogba, who is showing that he continues being a great players, showing his best level during the important moments of the season, like this round against Juventus, whose players made good games, but at this moment this is the level of this Italian team, whose future is good with young and talented players like Giorgio Chiellini, Dario Knezevic, Cristian Molinaro, Paolo De Ceglie, Claudio Marchisio, Momo Sissoko, Sebastian Giovinco-, Bayern Munich-what can we say about a team whose players can score 12 goals in 2 games to Sporting Lisboa…it can beat any team, so it is possible to see again a Bayern as European Champion- and Manchester United-it had a hard and complicated round with Inter Milan and it showed why it is the current champion and why it has lost only 2 game during all this season. It has an incredible defensive line-Van der Sar, Ferdinand, Vidic, Carrick, Hargreaves,etc-and besides a wonderful attack-“Apache” Tevez, Cristiano Ronaldo, Berbatov, Rooney…-and of course it has many chances to be again the Champion.

On the other hand,Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid were the other face of this week.
About the Spanish team, I want to say that Real Madrid made ridiculous during this round, where we saw controversial decision of the “great” Juande Ramos. On the one hand, it was clear that it was a mistake to dispense with Klaas Jan Huntelaar, since Real Madrid during these 2 games played with a reference in the attack and the result is clear-0 goals scored in 180 minutes-, besides it is difficult to understand why ,if Arjen Robben was injured last Wednesday, he “played”-it is better to say that he was at Anfield Road- during the first half, since these games require players 100%-besides if Juande said that Real Madrid plays better without Robben, ¿why did he play this important game?-. Moreover, I think he was not very intelligent when he decided to substitute Gago for Guti in the 77 minutes, cause now Guti is very angry and it is not the best idea, if Juande wants to have any future at Real Madrid, to have as enemy important players like Guti….(by the way, ¿what´s the matter with the new players, Faubert and Parejo? Pedja Mijatovic said that they were good acquisitions, but ¿what for? ¿To spend money and to receive commissions?
On the other hand, the Atletico Madrid´s coach, Abel Resino, must think about his abilities to be a coach for an important team, ¿how is it possible that Diego Forlan was on the bench many minutes of the yesterday´s game? The answer of Abel Resino is very convincing:”Atletico Madrid will have a very important and difficult game this weekend and it will need the best Forlán”. This answer can be described as joke, cause the important game of the season for Atletico was last Wednesday´s game and of course it was a big mistake dispensed with Forlán(his numbers during this season: 25 goals in 40 games) in the starting lineup…Abel, you seems Aguirre-the former Atlético Madrid´s coach-, so please, go home!!!!.-anyway, he has a complicated future, since important players of the team like Kun Agüero, Diego Forlan and Maxi Rodriguez are angry with him-
About Inter, its defeat was very different to Real and Atlético Madrid´s defeat, cause, if we exclude the first half of the first leg, it played well during this round, but this is football, maybe it needed a bit of fortune in concrete moments- Ibrahimovic and Adriano had clear chances to score yesterday- to beat a great team like Manchester United. But, although it played well and it was unlucky, this defeat can be described as failure to José Mourinho, because his great bet for this season was to win the Champions League and of course this result is a reverse for him and we must think about the performance of his team in this competition-at least, he was brave and we could see in the starting lineup, young players like “Super” Mario Balotelli and Davide Santon-.
Finally, I want to speak about the draw Arsenal FC-AS Roma and Panathinaikos-Villarreal CF, where we could see a very balanced games, being decisive on the one hand,the important tiredness and absences of the Romanista players-Cicinho, De Rossi, Mexes, Juan, Cassetti, Perrota, Menez … and besides Baptista, Vucinic, Pizarro played having some problems-and the other hand, the better quality and important experience of the Villarreal´s squad-it is not a surprise that this team is in this round, since we can find in its squad players like Gonzalo Rodriguez, Diego Lopez-he is an excellent goalkeeper-, Pirès, Nihat, Rossi, Cani, Santi Cazorla, Marcos Senna, Ibagaza,etc, so it is a good team and one clear example is that it did not lose the 2 games played this season against Manchester United….So, it is not impossible to think that this team can arrive to the semi-final of the Champions League, as some years ago-it played a semi-final against Arsenal when Riquelme could not score a decisive penalty in the last minutes of the draw-…so be careful with this “yellow submarine”, which can destroy any team,which also must be careful with this Arsenal, because the “gunners” will have a stronger team in the next round, since players like Adebayor and Cesc Fràbregas will be available to play, so be careful!!

EL UNITED RESERVA SU PLAZA PARA LOS 4º

El Manchester United reservó ayer su plaza para los cuartos de final tras vencer al Inter de Milán de Mourinho y dar un paso de gigante en su apuesta por la Champions League. Los de Ferguson marcaron dos goles en Old Trafford dentro de los primeros 4 minutos de cada parte, y con este resultado, el entrenador escocés, Sir Alex Ferguson, consiguió su segunda victoria en 14 partidos sobre el siempre criticado y polémico ex técnico del Chelsea.
El serbio Nemanja Vidic consiguió acertar en la diana tras un córner de Ryan Giggs en el minuto 4 del comienzo del encuentro, lo que ponía las cosas muy favorables para los ‘Red Devils’. Pero los de Old Trafford no dominaron como lo hicieron en la ida, y tanto Zlatan Ibrahimovic como Adriano pusieron a prueba la meta del holandés Van der Sar, encontrándose con el poste en dos ocasiones.
‘The Theatre of Dreams’ vio como los suyos trataban de aprovechar la magia del Balón de Oro portugués ante la inexperiencia del lateral izquierdo del Inter, Davide Santon, quien con 19 años demostró tener un gran potencial pero también que un encuentro de estas características requiere algo más de rodaje-quizás debió jugar Maxwell o Chivu-.
Tras el gol del central del United, la escuadra ‘Neroazzurra’ no se echó atrás y busco la portería del meta holandés con la confianza de que un gol les volvía a meter en la eliminatoria debido al resultado de 0-0 en el Giuseppe Meazza.
El bando local tampoco estuvo callado tras el gol, y el gran trabajo de Giggs-parece que el elegante zurdo galés ha hecho un pacto con el diablo para que no pasen los años por él- y Rooney, no se vio recompensado con más goles para el United “gracias” a la gran labor-una vez más- del seguro portero brasileño Julio César.
Tras el descanso el Inter de Milán volvió a salir demasiado relajado en un estadio donde no existe el ‘tea time’ inglés, y los de Sir Alex Ferguson volvieron a aprovecharlo para con la calidad de un Rooney incansable y la definición de Cristiano Ronaldo hacerles el segundo a los italianos y ahora sí que prácticamente recibir la confirmación de su billete a cuartos.
En el minuto 75’ de partido, el sueco del Inter, Zlatan, tuvo una oportunidad de oro para hacer el gol y poner el miedo sobre la ciudad de Manchester, pero Evra consiguió alejar el peligro de la portería y dejar claro que la defensa de los ‘Red Devils’ es una de las más firmes del continente.
Con el resultado de 2-0 acabó el encuentro lo que deja a los actuales campeones de Europa esperando ya a su siguiente rival. Gran trabajo de ambos conjuntos, pero el resultado de la ida, el cual no fue muy bueno para los italianos tras una penosa primera parte neroazzurra, dejó la cosa muy favorable para el lado inglés.
Finalmente destacar que presuntamente, tras el encuentro, José Mourinho agredió a un aficionado del Manchester United en la zona de autobuses, hecho que está investigando al policía inglesa y que nuevamente crea la polémica alrededor del entrenador portugués, que podemos decir que ha fracasado en esta primera temporada en Italia, porque su Objetivo real para esta temporada era la Champions. En fin, otro año más que tendrá que esperar la afición interista para volver a ver su Inter campeón de Europa.

After the analysis of the winners during this week, it's time to focus on the teams or players who were not very lucky during the last matches of the Champions League and the UEFA Cup and besides I will speak about the important Turkish game played this Saturday between Fenerbahçe and Sivasspor.
Possibly the most unfortunate team were all the Spanish teams, because all the teams from these league could not win any international game during this week. First, we lived on Tuesday the "exhibitions" of FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, whose actions can be described as “gray” if we are good.
On one side, FC Barcelona was dominated by a good Olympique Lyonnais, specially during the first half of the game, where we watched the powerful play of Toulalan and Makoun and the constant danger caused by Kader Keita, Ederson, Benzema and Juninho, who scored the Lyon´s goal thanks to another Víctor Valdés´s mistake-it is clear that FC Barcelona has a problem with the goalkeeper, since Victor Valdes has never been very reliable and if he has not received many goals is because the good play of the team does not let the opponents to have clear shots on target(if VV is not reliable, what can we say about the other goalkeepers of the team, Jorquera and Pinto ... so, it is clear that this team needs a total renovation in this position) -. However we believe that FC Barcelona will win the 2 leg of this round and it will play the next round of the Champions League, which it will be very complicated for Atletico de Madrid, because it has a big problem with its defensive line, which is showing a deplorable level. We already said in the article THE FIRST KNOCKOUT ROUND OF THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE(I) (article in English and Español) that the Perea´s injury could be decisive for the draw, because the substitute would be Pablo Ibáñez-the player who arrived an agreement with a Real Madrid president´s candidate to play in Real Madrid some years ago-, whose play is always synonym of insecurity and obviously we watched a Pablo´s big mistake during the first FC Porto´s goal scored by the determinant Lisandro López, who had many facilities during the game and in fact if he and the other strikers of the team-Hulk- could not score more goal was because the Atlético´s goalkeeper, Leo Franco, played very well and he counteracted the bad level showed by the defensive, midfielder and offensive line-especially when the coach, Abel Resino, took a bad decision, the substitution of Kun Agüero ... -. So, the opposite to Juande´s team, whose team had last Wednesday 7 defensive players(Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Cannavaro, Heinze, Gago, Lass, Marcelo) plus Iker Casillas in the starting lineup, so it is normal that the team had many offensive problem during the game, because Raul, Robben and Higuaín were very alone to play against the hard Liverpool´s defensive line. Please Juande, more imagination and quality on the field, ¿is it very difficult to see for example in the starting lineup a player like Rafael Van der Vaart, who is a player who can have a defensive role-for example he was fantastic during the last Euro when he stopped the Andrea Pirlo´s play- and besides he has quality with ball to be the playmaker of the team and besides he has a great shot?. We must also remark the bad week for the Italian team, because if we except that Udinese Calcio could qualify for the next round, the rest of the transalpine teams could not win their matches, and for example Inter drew its game-we can say that it was lucky because Manchester United played better and specially during the first half of the game-and the other lost the games or said goodbye to the competition: Juventus played well but it lost the game played against Chelsea FC; AS Roma suffered again the Mexes´s mistake, since he caused an unnecessary penalty; Sampdoria could not beat the fashionable Metalist; Fiorentina forgot that the games have 90 minutes!; and AC Milan returned to commit the mistake to play in the starting lineup with “grandfathers”-it is difficult to understand why did Milan play with players like Dida (35 year´s old), Pepe Favalli (37 year´s old), Paolo Maldini (40 year´s old) and Andriy Shevchenko (he is in a deplorable level), ¿When we will see new defenders at Milanello?-

Después del análisis de los triunfadores europeos, es momento de centrarnos de los equipos o jugadores que han tenido una actuación muy desafortunada durante los últimos partidos de la Champions y de la Copa de la Uefa.

Posiblemente en términos globales los equipos con una actuación más desafortunada han sido los equipos de la liga española que han vivido una semana para olvidar.
Primero, el martes vivimos las “exhibiciones” del FC Barcelona y el Atlético de Madrid, cuyas actuaciones se pueden calificar como mínimo de grises.
Por un lado, el FC Barcelona se vio superado sobre todo durante la primera parte, por un buen Olympique Lyonnais que hizo lo previsto, es decir, dominar el medio campo gracias a la labor de Toulalan y Makoun y generar peligro con las jugadas de Keita, Ederson, Benzema y Juninho, que marcó el gol del Lyon gracias al enésimo fallo de Víctor Valdés-está claro desde hace mucho tiempo que el talón de Aquiles de este FC Barcelona es la portería, pues Víctor Valdés nunca ha sido demasiado fiable y si no le meten muchos goles es por la labor del equipo que no deja que el rival tenga demasiadas ocasiones claras (si VV no es fiable, qué decir de Pinto y Jorquera…en fin, es necesaria una renovación total de esa posición)-. De todas formas creemos que el FC Barcelona, que pudo salvar los muebles en la segunda parte gracias al gol de Henry, pasará esta ronda sin demasiados apuros, lo cual no podemos decir del Atlético de Madrid, cuyo nivel defensivo fue lamentable. Ya dijimos en el artículo THE FIRST KNOCKOUT ROUND OF THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE(I) (article in English and Español) que la baja de Perea podía ser decisiva, porque esto haría que Pablo jugase y con “el vendido” Pablo cualquier cosa mala puede pasar y evidentemente ocurrió durante el primer gol del FC Porto, cuyos delanteros encontraron muchas facilidades y de hecho si no es por la buena actuación del portero Leo Franco, el Porto podía haber conseguido un marcador de escándalo, porque el Atlético parecía que jugaba sin línea defensiva, bueno y sin medio campo y casi sin delanteros-sobre todo cuando Abel Resino hizo una “aguirrada” y mandó al Kun Agüero al banquillo…-. Mucho tiene que mejorar el Atlético si quiere tener alguna opción de eliminar al Porto en el Dragao, porque si espera clasificarse gracias a otro fallo de Helton, creo que lo tendrá crudo.

Pero si el martes los equipos españoles hicieron lo que hicieron, qué decir de lo que pasó el miércoles en el Bernabeu (el Villarreal aunque empató con el Panathinaikos, al menos lo intentó y dominó el partido, pero no estuvo acertado en el remate y además se encontró con un gol en contra gracias a un gran disparo de Karagounis). Aunque alguno no lo crea, el Real Madrid jugó el pasado miércoles, o mejor dicho estuvo en el campo, porque decir que jugó al fútbol es una broma de mal gusto. Supongo que Juande Ramos tendrá sus partidarios, pero está muy claro que por mucho que gane la liga o la champions, su estilo de “juego” no es para el Real Madrid, cuya afición está acostumbrada a ver buen juego, con jugadores creativos, con calidad, es decir, todo lo contrario a las alineaciones de Juande, que el pasado miércoles “se quedó muy a gusto” alineando en el equipo inicial a 7 jugadores de corte defensivo(Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Cannavaro, Heinze, Gago, Lass, Marcelo) más Iker Casillas, con lo que es normal que el equipo no funcionase ofensivamente, pues qué pueden hacer Raúl, Robben e Higuain ante la maraña defensiva de Benítez…poca cosa, como quedó demostrado. Por favor, un poco más de imaginación y calidad en el campo, que no es ningún pecado, al menos Juande podía haber alineado a Van der Vaart, que es un jugador que, como demostró en la pasada Euro en el partido de Italia, en el que anuló a Pirlo, puede cumplir perfectamente en labores defensivas y además tiene salida de balón y un buen lanzamiento, pero ya conocemos a Juande, para qué voy a jugar con 5 defensas si puedo jugar con 8, por algo prefirió inscribir en la Champions a Lass en lugar de Klass Jan Huntelaar-lo cual fue un error, porque la labor de Lass la puede realizar perfectamente Javi García y como quedó demostrado el pasado miércoles, al Real Madrid con la ausencia de Huntelaar, le falta la referencia en el área, pues Raúl no puede estar defendiendo, haciendo la jugada y rematando…-(por cierto, no puedo concluir lo relativo al Real Madrid sin mencionar la situación del “salvador” Faubert, que por cierto sigue en el Real Madrid, lo digo porque de él sólo sabemos que Juande calificó de “gris” su actuación contra el Racing de Santander y que según Juande, Faubert lleva sin saberlo 10 días lesionado!!!…sin comentarios… veremos lo que acontece en el partido de este sábado entre el RCD Espanyol y el Real Madrid a las 22.00 c e.t

Por lo demás debemos referirnos a los pésimos partidos del Deportivo La Coruña y del Valencia CF (parece que es lo mejor que les puede haber pasado, para que de esta forma se centren en los respectivos objetivos en la liga española), debemos también destacar la mala semana de los equipos italianos, pues si exceptuamos al Udinese Calcio que pudo por los pelos clasificarse, el resto de equipos transalpinos no pudieron vencer sus partidos, así empato su partido el Inter-tuvo fortuna porque el Manchester United fue muy superior durante la primera parte-y perdieron o quedaron eliminados la Juve-no jugó mal contra el Chelsea FC-, la AS Roma-como predijimos, Mexes hizo de las suyas y provocó un penalty innecesario-, la Sampdoria-al final se rindió ante el equipo revelación de esta UEFA, el Metalist-, la Fiorentina-los partidos duran 90 minutos!!- y el AC Milan-con todos mis respetos, pero no entiendo cómo pueden jugar un partido tan importante jugadores como Dida(35 años), Pepe Favalli(37 años), Paolo Maldini(40 años) y Andriy Shevchenko(que se encuentra en un nivel lamentable), ¿Cuándo veremos la operación renovación defensiva en Milanello?-

During this week we have had many European competition´s game and now it is time to make a revision to remark the teams or players whose actions represent the Head of the sport, the triumph, leaving the negative side, the Tails, for the next article.

About the Champions League, we should remark the Bayern Munich´s game at Lisbon, where it showed again its tremendous punch and that it can be considered as one of the main favourites to win the Champions Leagues- it is clear that this team is another team when the phenomenal Ribéry can play, because the French is now a mature player and he is showing an excellent performance-this season his numbers are 11 goals and 13 assists in 27 games(Bayern is a lucky team, because it is not easy to have in the squad a great quartet formed by Franck Ribéry, Bastian Schweinsteiger-8 goals and 9 assists, Toni-14 goals and 8 assists, and Klose- 20 goals and 9 assists-). In relation to the UEFA Cup, the names that we must emphasize are: the "modest" Ukrainian team Metalist Kharkov, which continues its dream, showing that it was not casual its victory in the first round of the Uefa Cup over a team with character, quality and prestige as Besiktas, and in fact since this round, it has not had any defeat in the Uefa Cup, beating team like Galatasaray, Benfica, Sampdoria and Olympiakos. As we have mentioned Dynamo Kiev, it is moment to remark the play of a young striker during the Thursday´s game against Valencia, because the level showed by the young Artem Kravets was incredible, since he was a constant synonym of mobility, dribbling, vision of the game, speed and definition (he scored the 2 goals), showing that we should follow his developments, since he can be a very important and famous player soon, we will see….

Other protagonists were Bülent Korkmaz, the new coach of Galatasaray- after the disastrous match against Kocaelispor last Sunday(Galatasaray lost 2-5), the German coach Michael Skibbe was sacked and Bülent arrived as the substituted to the Ali Sami Yen´s bench and he started very well, qualifying the Istanbul´s team to the next Uefa Cup´s round after a vibrant game played against Girondins Bordeaux (4-3 was the final score)(it is sure that Galatasary, whose squad is really good, will have good record since this moment, being for me a serious candidate to win the Uefa Cup)- and Craig Bellamy, the Manchester City striker, who took advantage of Ireland and Robinho´s assists (the Brazilian made a good play during the second goal) and he scored the 2 decisive goals to qualify his team to play the next round against the amazing Aalborg BK. Finally we must also emphasize the goal of Leonardo Vitor Santiago-the Ajax´s striker after a good individual play, could score the decisive goal in the 88 minutes of the game Ajax-Fiorentina- and the definition of Claudio Pizarro-the player from Peru is showing that maybe Chelsea committed a mistake when it dispensed with the play of this good striker, who is always a guarantee and specially during the important games, when the team needs his performance as for example this Thursday at San Siro where he took advantage of the Diego and Boenisch´s assists and he scored 2 goals with his head to counter the Pirlo (penalty) and Pato´goal (the Brazilian scored an excellent goal) and to qualify Werder Bremen(Pizarro has scored 28 goals in 17 games during this season)- .

LOS TRIUNFADORES DE ESTA SEMANA (article in English and Español)

Semana en la que hemos vivido muchos partidos de competición europea y es momento de referirnos a los equipos o jugadores cuyas actuaciones representan la cara del deporte, el triunfo, dejando la parte negativa, la cruz, para el siguiente artículo.

En cuanto a lo que se refiere a la Champions, debemos destacar el gran papel del Bayern de Munich que tras pasearse en Lisboa ya ha solventado la eliminatoria gracias a su tremenda pegada y demostrando que perfectamente puede estar entre los principales favoritos para conseguir la Champions-está claro que este equipo es otro cuando puede contar con el juego del fenomenal Ribéry, que se encuentra en plena madurez deportiva, realizando una magnífica temporada con 11 goles y 13 asistencias en 27 partidos durante esta temporada (gran cuarteto el formado por Franck Ribéry, Bastian Schweinsteiger-8 goles y 9 asistencias-, Toni-14 goles y 8 asistencias- y Klose-20 goles y 9 asistencias-).
Con relación a la copa de la Uefa, los nombres propios que debemos destacar son: los del “modesto” equipo ucranio del Metalist Kharkov, que sigue con su temporada de ensueño y demostrando que no fue una casual su pase en la eliminatoria disputada el pasado mes de octubre frente un equipo con solera, prestigio y calidad como es el Besiktas, pues desde entonces no conoce la derrota en competición europea venciendo a equipos como el Galatasaray, Benfica, Olympiakos o Sampdoria. Mucho merito tiene el equipo de Miron Markevich, porque si analizamos su plantilla, la verdad es que no encontramos a ninguna estrella, siendo sus jugadores más destacados los de los delanteros Jaja Coelho-paso con más pena que gloria por el Getafe-o Marko Devic, el mediocampista brasileño Edmar o el defensor argentino Jonathan Ramón Maidana. En fin, pocos nombres pero mucha solidez (sólo ha encajado 2 goles en toda la competición Uefa) en un equipo que en la siguiente ronda se las verá con su máximo rival, el Dynamo de Kiev (ambos están teniendo un bonito duelo en la liga de Ucrania y de hecho este fin de semana se enfrentan entre sí en un partido decisivo para definir cual será el campeón de liga). Ya que hemos mencionado al Dynamo de Kiev, aprovecharemos para referirnos a otro de los grandes protagonistas de este jueves, el joven ucranio Artem Kravets, que ayer tuvo su primer gran partido europeo pues dio una auténtica exhibición de movilidad, regate, visión de juego, velocidad y definición (marcó los 2 goles), demostrando que a sus 19 años es un jugador que hay que seguir muy de cerca su evolución porque puede ser uno de los grandes en un futuro no muy lejano…..
Otros protagonistas fueron Bülent Korkmaz, el nuevo entrenador del Galatasaray-tras el desastroso partido contra el Kocaelispor del pasado domingo en el que el Galatasaray perdió por 2-5, el entrenador alemán Michael Skibbe fue destituido y su cargó lo ocupó Bülent, que comenzó con buen pie y consiguió que el Galatasaray eliminase al Girondins Burdeos tras un vibrante partido( 4-3)-seguro que el equipo de Estambul ahora va para arriba en lo que se refiere a las prestaciones y puede ser un serio candidato al título europeo (plantilla tiene de sobras)- y Craig Bellamy, el delantero del Manchester City, que aprovechándose de las asistencias de Ireland y Robinho( buena jugada por la izquierda del brasileño), consiguió los 2 tantos decisivos para que su equipo se pudiese clasificar para la siguiente fase en las que se las verá con el sorprendente Aalborg BK.
Finalmente también debemos destacar el gol de Leonardo de Vitor Santiago-que tras una buena jugada personal, consiguió en el minuto 88 el gol decisivo para que la Fiorentina quedase eliminada y el Ajax pudiese pasar a la siguiente ronda donde se enfrentará al Olympique Marsella-, la definición de Claudio Pizarro-está demostrando que quizás el Chelsea debió confiar un poco más en él porque es un delantero muy solvente y sobre todo en los partidos en los que el equipo lo necesita como en el de ayer en San Siro donde con 2 cabezazos se aprovechó de las asistencias de Diego y Boenisch y contrarrestó los goles de Pirlo(de penalty) y de Pato(golazo desde fuera del área) y dejó en la cuneta al todopoderoso AC Milan(el peruano ya lleva 17 goles en 28 partidos)-.

Finally the First Knockout round of the Champions League, the moment of truth for the big European clubs arrives with uncertain draws in all the cases. On Tuesday at 20.45 ce.t we will have the first game of the draw between:

1-FC Porto-Atletico Madrid:
Keys:-¿who will show a better performance, the Atlético´s duo Kun Aguero-Diego Forlan or the Argentine Porto´s duo Lucho González-Lisandro Lopez (Lisandro is not making a great season, but if last season he could score 24 goals in 27 games was because he is a brilliant striker and he appears when the team needs his goals, like for example during the crucial game against Fenerbahçe and Arsenal some months ago) -.
-The rhythm of game, cause as the new Atlético´s coach, Abel Resino, has been recognized the players of Atletico Madrid are not goo fitness and they have many problems during the last minutes of the game, so FC Porto should impose a high rhythm of play if it wants to have more chance to win this round.
-Defensive rigour: Both teams are receiving quite a lot of goals-Atletico Madrid has received 35 in 24 league games and FC Porto, 18 in 15 Portuguese Superliga (last season, Porto received only 13 goals in 30 games) and they want have any chance in this Champions League, they should improve once to see the authentic level of players like Ujfalusi, Perea, Heitinga or Rolando, Pedro Emanuel and Fucile.
Our favourite: Atlético Madrid, because it has better quality in the squad and besides its players are more experienced, although the Perea´s injury can be decisive-he will be out 2 months-, because if Pablo Ibañez play in the starting lineup, FC Porto has many chances to win, because Pablo is a very bad and unsecure player.

2-Olympique Lyon-FC Barcelona
Obviously everyone thinks that FC Barcelona is the clear favourite in this round, because the Pep Guardiola's team is making an impressive season, showing an excellent play´s level and a great record during this season in all the championships thanks to the wonderful season of players like the amazing Messi (29 goals in 43 games) and the indomitable Samuel Eto'o (34 goals in 37 games). But FC Barcelona fans should not be relied and think these games will be easy, since if Espanyol could win yesterday at Camp Nou, ¿what can do Olympique Lyon? Specially this Olympic Lyon, which is a much more competitive team than other years. Perhaps it plays worse and it is a less offensive team, but this is the style of the great French coach Claude Puel, whose team always bear his stamp of identity, order, work, sacrifice-Lyon is showing a better defensive performance (it has received 16 goals league goals in 24 games-last season it received 37in 38 games-). 3-Inter Milan-Manchester United

In this case, we think that AS Roma will have more chances to play next round, because we think that the Spalleti´s team is much more competitive, because it has a better defensive level, which is decisive in this kind of games. AS Roma had a horrible start of the season but bit by bit it improved the level and the results and now we can say that it is in its best moment of the season-specially if we talk about the result (the last defeat against Atalanta should be understood as an accident)-thanks to return of the great captain Francesco Totti-he is the soul of the team (this season, 8 goals in 20 games)-, the reborn of Julio Baptista and the opportunism of Mirko Vucinic(this season,16 goals in 32 games), who will have many facilities to score when they play against the innocent Arsenal´s defensive line-I did not understand as Arsene Wenger did not seek a solution in the winter market. It is a good news to acquire a player like Arsahvin, but ¿what ´s the matter with the defensive line?To win this kind of draw is necessary to have a balance squad and specially good defensive and experience central midfielders, which we can find in the Arsenal squad ... LOS 8º DE LA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE(I)(article in English and Español)

Por fin llegan los 8º de final de la Champions League, es decir el momento de la verdad para los grandes clubs europeos, que se juegan gran parte de la temporada en 180 minutos trepidantes.
Lo cierto es que se presentan unos partidos muy abiertos, con unos resultados bastante inciertos en prácticamente en todas las eliminatorias.
El martes a las 20.45 tendremos el primer partido de las eliminatorias entre:

1-FC Porto-Atlético Madrid:
Claves:
-Ver que dupla se lleva el gato al agua, si el temible dúo formado por Kun Agüero-Diego Forlán se puede imponer a la pareja Lucho González-Lisandro López (Lisandro no está realizando una gran temporada, pero si la temporada pasada consiguió 24 goles en 27 partidos fue por algo)-.
-El ritmo de juego: como ha reconocido el nuevo entrenador del Atlético de Madrid, Abel Resino, los jugadores del Atlético de Madrid no están bien físicamente, con lo que el Porto debería imponer un alto ritmo de juego si quiere tener posibilidades de salir vencedor de esta eliminatoria.
- Rigor defensivo: ambos equipos encajan muchos goles-el Atlético de Madrid ha recibido 34 en 23 partidos de liga y el FC Porto 14 en 18 de la Supeliga portuguesa(la temporada pasada el Porto recibió 13 en 30 partidos)-y el que quiera tener alguna posibilidad de llegar lejos, debe mejorar de una vez-será fundamental la labor de los Ujfalusi, Perea, Heitinga por parte Atlética y Rolando, Pedro Emanuel, Fucile por parte del FC Porto-
-Nuestro favorito: Atlético Madrid, por la calidad y experiencia de la mayor parte de sus jugadores.

2-Olympique Lyon-FC Barcelona
Evidentemente todo el mundo piensa que el FC Barcelona es el claro favorito de esta eliminatoria, pues es el equipo de Pep Guardiola lleva una temporada impresionante, tanto en lo que se refiere al nivel de juego como a los resultados cosechados y además porque puede contar con el juego del maravilloso y desequilibrante Messi(29 goles en 42 partidos) y el indomable Samuel Eto´o(34 goles en 36 partidos). Pero, los aficionados blaugranas no deben confiarse y pensar que los partidos están ganados, pues este Lyon es un conjunto mucho más competitivo que el de otros años-quizás no juega tan bien-, notándose la mano del genial entrenador galo Claude Puel, cuyos equipos siempre llevan su sello de identidad, es decir, orden, trabajo, sacrificio, eficacia-el Lyon de este año es un equipo menos goleador que el de otros años, pero también ofrece unas mejores prestaciones defensivas(en liga ha encajado 16 goles en 24 partidos-en la temporada pasada encajó 37 en 38 partidos)-.Además de estos caracteres, el Lyon ofrece otro rasgo más, la calidad, que se manifiesta en jugadores como el desequilibrante Benzema-no está teniendo su mejor temporada en lo que se refiere a olfato goleador, pero ya conocemos su potencia, calidad y capacidad para decantar un partido(esta temporada lleva 19 goles en 37 partidos)-, Juninho-sinónimo de gol cuando se dispone a lanzar una falta-, Ederson-el nuevo Juninho empieza poco a poco a mostrar todo su gran potencial- o los poderosos mediocampistas Jean Makoun y Jeremy Toulalan-serán clave, si el Lyon quiere tener alguna posibilidad, estos 2 medio centros que deben formar un pareja infranqueable que impida la fluidez en el juego azulgrana, tratando de robar balones para que Kader Keita, Benzema o Ederson puedan salir al ataque con espacios-. Eliminatoria complicada para ambos equipos y por fin asistiremos a la primera gran prueba de fuego para Pep Guardiola y veremos cómo la resuelve.

3-Inter Milan-Manchester United
Eliminatoria muy pareja en la que es muy que probable que veamos una prorroga, pues son 2 equipos muy similares en el sentido de que ambos ofrecen unas grandes prestaciones defensivas-Van der Sar lleva 1302 minutos sin encajar un gol y la defensa Interista en general y Julio Cesar en particular también están mostrando una gran solidez-y además ambos tienen muchísima calidad en la línea ofensiva con jugadores tan desequilibrantes como Cristiano Ronaldo(15 goles en 36 partidos, Berbatov, Adriano o Zlatan Ibrahimovic(esta temporada lleva 17 goles en 35 partidos). La verdad es que es difícil decantarse por uno como favorito, pero quizás veamos al Inter con más números de pasar la eliminatoria, pues el gran José Mourinho es siempre una garantía para este tipo de partidos y además lleva toda la temporada preparándose para estas eliminatorias-al final se ha decantado por utilizar 4-4-2, teniendo un poderoso y físico mediocampo-, pues la Champions es el principal objetivo para Mou y el Inter, cuyos jugadores llegará a este partido totalmente centrado, despreocupado de un Scudetto que ya tienen prácticamente ganado, con lo que Mou podrá dar descanso a sus principales jugadores durante el partido de este sabado(16.00 c.e.t) contra el Bolonia para que puedan llegar frescos al coche contra el Manchester Untied, partido en el que el espectáculo está garantizado.

4-FC Arsenal-AS Roma
Eliminatoria bonita entre 2 equipos que practican un juego alegre y vistoso y en la que sale como favorito el AS Roma, pues entendemos que el conjunto de Spalleti es mucho más competitivo, ya que tras un inicio horrible de temporada, por fin se ha reencontrado con el buen juego y con los buenos resultados-la derrota en el último partido en el campo de la Atalanta debe ser entendido como una anécdota- gracias al buen juego de Francesco Totti-el alma de este equipo(8 goles en 19 partidos)-,de un renacido Julio Baptista y del oportunista Mirko Vucinic(16 goles en 32 partidos), que deberán sobresalir ante la inocencia defensiva del Arsenal-no entendí como Arsene Wenger no buscó una solución durante el pasado mercado invernal. Está muy bien fichar a Arsahvin, pero ¿qué hay de la defensa? Para ganar este tipo de eliminatorias se necesita medio centros defensivos experimentados y el Arsenal no tiene ningún jugador de este perfil…Gran problema, que se une al otro problema de Wenger, las lesiones de Fabregas, Rosicky, Eduardo-el croata se ha lesionado otra vez (ahora estará 2 meses más lesionado)-……En fin, demasiados inconvenientes para enfrentarse a un gran equipo como la Roma, cuyo principal interrogante es si la línea defensiva podrá mostrar solidez sin la participación del experimentado Panucci-recordemos que Panucci está “apartado” del equipo tras unas declaraciones en las que criticaba a la plantilla-, teniendo en cuenta que Mexes es capaz de lo mejor y de lo peor… pero pese a Mexes, creemos que la AS Roma se impondrá en esta eliminatoria, en la que tenemos el espectáculo y goles asegurados.

So, we believe that the ordeal finished for the Stamford Bridge´s fans, who should be hopeful for the future, because their team have a good squad and the only necessary thing is to have a coach whose decisions are based on the common sense and with winning mentality, since the difficult thing is to see bad record, when you have in the squad players like Terry, Lampard, Kalou, Drogba or Malouda.

Obviously we will pay attention to the future of this great club, as well as any developments with Luis Aragonés, after the sad and painful games played by his team this Sunday against the modest Büyüksehir Belediyespor Istanbul. Frankly, I do not remember a game as bad as yesterday Fenerbahçe´s game, because this team showed an “spectacle” of play without concentration-many absurd mistakes-, without any pressure and besides against a simply headstrong rival-we can remark the job of the goalkeeper Mehmet Ali Tunc and of the technical Ibrahim Akin, who if he continues at this level, will be soon again playing for a big clubs(in the past he played during 3 seasons and a half for Besiktas) -, which had the setback of play with 10 men during many minutes of the game, but despite this, it was able to defeat the almighty Fenerbahçe (2-0), whose coach, Luis Aragonés, returned to make strange decisions and he "delighted" us with some strange substitutions,¿ how is it possible that if the team is losing and playing against 10 players, the Luis Aragones´s decision is Alex –he is the best player of the team and he can decide a game at any time- and Dani Güiza-although he is not playing very well, he should be in the field, cause he is always synonym of danger- to the bench?, if Alex, Güiza, Deivid, Semih Sentürk, Ugur Boral and Kazim can not play together against Büyüksehir Istanbul, ¿when they will do?. It was a very bad Fenerbahçe´s game and we'll see if this is result means the dismissal of "El Sabio"(“the wise”) Aragonés because the team needs something different to change this current dynamics-the team is playing very bad during all the season and if it is having good results, is because the individual quality of some players, since the team, as collective, does not exist, which is always dangerous, because finally one day the individualities do not appear and the team shows a lamentable spectacle as yesterday... .- We will be attentive to the news.

SCOLARI DESTITUIDO, ¿SERÁ LUÍS ARAGONES EL SIGUIENTE? (article in English soon)

Los aficionados del Chelsea FC ya pueden respirar tranquilos porque por fin se ha producido la destitución del entrenador Felipe Scolari, cuyo bajo rendimiento durante estos 6 meses es algo que no nos sorprende y desde el principio dijimos( PREMIER LEAGUE: COMIENZA EL ESPECTACULO (This article is available in English and Español) )que el Chelsea de esta temporada presentaba muchas sombras y especialmente en la figura de su entrenador, que tras sus malos resultados con la selección portuguesa, vuelve a fracasar en el fútbol europeo y ya veremos si vuelve a tener otra oportunidad en un grande del fútbol europeo-veremos si cuando Sandro Rossell se presente a la presidencia del FC Barcelona elige al “grande” de Felipao para el banquillo blaugrana (recordemos que para Rosell, Scolari era el técnico ideal para el Barça)-.
Creemos que la decisión llega en un buen momento porque si Abramovich quiere que su Chelsea tenga alguna posibilidad de eliminar a la Juventus de Turín en los 8º de final de la Champions League, el equipo necesitaba un cambio en el timón del equipo, un cambio que haga que el Chelsea recupere su mentalidad ganadora y vuelva a ser un equipo temible y capaz de ganar en cualquier campo y contra cualquier rival, es decir, un equipo opuesto al actual Chelsea, que sólo ha sido capaz de 4 de los últimos 12 partidos disputados de la Premier y que sólo ha sido capaz de sacar un triste empate en todos sus enfrentamientos contra los equipos grandes de la Premier-empato a 1 con el Manchester United en Stamford Brigde y perdió los restantes partidos contra el Liverpool, Manchester United y Arsenal-y que ha tenido como “broche de oro” un lamentable empate el pasado sábado en Stamford Bridge contra un simplemente voluntarioso Hull City-empate y gracias, porque si Craig Fagan hubiese estado un poco más acertado, el Chelsea hubiese perdido el partido(un poco triste que un equipo como el Chelsea tenga como recurso para ganar un partido, la incorporación al campo de Belleti)-.
En fin, creemos que se acabo el calvario para la afición de Stamford Brigde, que debe estar esperanzada con el futuro, con independencia de quien sea el nuevo entrenador, porque simplemente con sentido común y mentalidad ganadora, este equipo tiene que funcionar sí o sí porque lo difícil es lo ha hecho Scolari, teniendo en plantilla jugadores como Terry, Lampard, Kalou, Drogba o Malouda.

Evidentemente estaremos atentos al futuro de este grande, como también de lo que acontezca con Luis Aragonés, tras el lamentable y pésimo partido disputado este domingo ante el modestísimo Istanbul Büyüksehir Belediyespor. Sinceramente, hacía tiempo que no veía un partido tan malo por parte de un equipo que debe ser considerado grande, pues vimos un recital de falta de concentración, de intensidad, de errores absurdos en pases facilísimos, de carencia de juego, sin presión de ningún tipo y todo ello ante un equipo simplemente ordenado-destacar al portero Mehmet Ali Tunc y al técnico Ibrahim Akin, que si sigue a este nivel no debería tardar en volver a un grande(ya jugó durante 3 temporadas y media en el Besiktas)- y que jugó gran parte del partido con 10 jugadores, pero que pese a esto, fue capaz de ganar por 2-0 al todopoderoso Fenerbahçe, cuyo técnico, Luis Aragonés, volvió a hacer de las suyas y nos “deleitó” con una serie de cambios totalmente inexplicables, ¿cómo es posible que si el equipo está perdiendo y jugando contra 10, saque del campo a Alex-mejor jugador técnicamente del equipo y capaz de decidir un partido en cualquier momento- y a Dani Güiza-vale que no está en su mejor momento, pero siempre es un peligro para las defensas rivales-? si Alex, Güiza, Deivid, Semih Sentürk, Kazim y Ugur Boral no pueden jugar juntos contra el Istanbul Büyüksehir, ¿cuándo lo harán?. Partido muy malo y ya veremos si no produce la destitución de “el Sabio”, porque el equipo así no va a ningún sitio-realmente si Aragonés ha podido llegar hasta estas alturas de temporada, ha sido porque ha ido consiguiendo buenos resultados que enmascaraban un juego totalmente pésimo, simplemente basado en las individualidades del equipos, lo cual siempre es peligroso, porque al final, ocurre lo de este domingo…….-
Estaremos atentos a las novedades.
