SCOLARI DESTITUIDO, ¿SERÁ LUÍS ARAGONES EL SIGUIENTE? (article in English soon)

THE WINTER MARKET 09 IS CLOSED (article in English and Español)

Finally, the winter market finished and it did with quite lot of news over the past last days, especially in the English league.
Possibly the name of the last days is the great Russian Andrey Arshavin, whose dreams came true and finally he left Zenit St Petersburg to sign with Arsenal after a long and tough negotiations with a transfer fee of 16.5 million euros- Arsenal acquires a great player without spending too much money if we take into account the prices of other worse players during this market, but I do not know if Arsenal needs this player, because if we look the future, ¿what will happen when Fàbregas and Rosicky are ready to play? who will not play? Because I think that it will be difficult to see together Cesc, Rosicky, Nasri, Van Persie and Arshavin. Besides Arsenal has its problems in the defensive line and not in the offensive line, because it scores more or less the same goals as the other big teams, but its defensive level is a disaster and in fact it has received 15 more goals than Manchester United and 10 more than Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC, so it might have been more interesting to sign a defensive central midfielder or an experienced central defender, looking for a player on loan like Chelsea FC, which has some problems in its midfielder line after de Joe Cole´s injury and it decided to sign on loan the Portuguese Ricardo Quaresma, who after a disastrous Inter Milan´s period, where he was without confidence and playing with fear and under the fans´s yell, decided to look for another opportunity to show his potential and quality and we will see if alongside Scolari, he can be a good player outside the Portuguese League-for the moment he failed at Milan and at Barcelona-.

In addition to Arshavin and Quaresma, the other names of the English market during the last days have been: 1-Robbie Keane- Spurs seem that it wants to go back one year because this club is recovering many players dismissed by Juande Ramos. At least once Tottenham has not lost money in this case because it sold Keane for 24 million and now it buys him for 16.5 million euros. Tottenham needs the Keane's return because it needs to raise its offensive level, because until now the Spurs is the 6th worse Premier League team if we talk about the best top scorer team and if it does not want any problem to remain in the Premier League, it must improve its offensive level and Keane can be the perfect solution to get it-by the way I think that this departure is a Liverpool´s mistake, because the second half of the season will be hard and it will be necessary many and experienced player, therefore I can not understand as Rafa Benitez goes without the experienced Robbie, because now he only will have Fernando Torres as striker with level and experience(we suppose that we will see Dirk Kuyt playing in the middle, carrying out the Keane´s role but I do not know if it will be enough)- 2-Shay Given (it was very clear that City needed a good and experienced goalkeeper and we can say that it hit with this acquisition (9 million), because Given is a goalkeeper with these 2 characteristics and at least Mark Hughes will not have problems in this position, but I still do not like Manchester City, because it will continue with its limited defensive line-even it will be worse because Tal Ben-Haim will play on loan at Sunderland- and it continues with its excess of strikers-Bellamy arrived and the unfortunate Brazilian Jo (his price was 24 million euros 6 months ago and his numbers at Manchester were 1 goal in 9 Premier´s games)will play on loan at Everton, which was looking for a striker to replace the injured Aiyegbeni Yakubu; Newcastle United (besides the Given´s departure-we will see if Newcastle does not regret this departure at the end of the season, because if the team had many defensive problems with Given (it is the 3 Premier´s team with more goal received), we will see what can happen with Sthepen Harper as the goalkeeper of the team-, the "magpies" have other changes, since it signed a good midfielder as Kevin Nolan-he arrives from Bolton (4.5 million euros)-and it bought the French left player Charles N'Zogbia, who will play at Wigan (7 million), after his personal problems with the Newcastle´s manager, Joe Kinnear; other Premiership´s news are the transfer of:El-Hadji Diouf arrives to Blackburn Rovers after a transfer fee of 4.5 million euros, - he can show a good performance alongside Benni McCarthy, Jason Roberts and Roque Santa Cruz-, Olivier Dacourt -the experienced French centre midfielder did not have any chance to play at Inter and he decided to try the English experience, playing at Fulham FC, where he must be an important player- and Theofanis Gekas and Angelos Basinas, who arrive to Portsmouth to replace the departure of Lass and Defoe respectively (good deal for player's agents Gerster / Koutsoliakos).

In addition to the English market, we have also had news on other leagues such as: 1-Spain: the 2 names in these last days have been Julien Faubert and Javier Aguirre. Perhaps the Faubert´s arrival to Real Madrid can be described as the surprise of the market and in fact Faubert said that when he had knowledge of the Real Madrid´s interest, he thought that it was a joke, which is the normal thought for a player who has not many chances to play at West Ham-Behrami is a better player and it is normal the Swiss player has a place in the starting lineup and Faubert on the bench, so please do not tell us strange stories to justify the Faubert´s situation at West Ham(by the way, Mijatovic, you said 6 months ago that Real Madrid´s squad was perfect and that there would be no new players on January, What has changed to sign Faubert?). The other name of the Spanish league is the ultraconservative coach Javier Aguirre, who, after a painful January, has been sacked from Atletico Madrid, which I think it is a good news, because Aguirre has demonstrated that he has not place in a big club and that he must improve in medium team to can return to a top club, if he can return sometime. This is the best solution, but it arrives with 2 years of delay, although now it was the best moment to make it because at this moment there was no dialogue between many players and the coach and besides many players did not have confidence in the coach and besides some players were angry with the coach, cause Aguirre had differential of some players. Alongside these 2 names, and the arrival of the Brazilian "tank" Pedro Oldoni to Real Valladolid-he did not score many goals in Atletico-PR-, we must emphasize the return of Ricardo Oliveira to Betis- Betis needed a good striker to resolve its offensive problems (8 million euros)-,Leo Ponzio to Real Zaragoza and the return to the Spanish Liga of the defender Raul Bravo and the goalkeeper Kelemen, who will play at Numancia.

2-Italy: The protagonist during the last days is Christian Panucci, who after saying that he was very happy at Rome and he wanted to finish his career at the Roman club, he protested after a Spalleti´s decision-Panucci was on the bench- and a complicated situation started, being the best solution the Panucci´s departure and therefore Spalleti wanted to strengthen the squad to replace Panucci and it got 2 young but experienced defenders, Marco Motta, who arrives from Udinese and Souleymane Diamoutene, who arrives on loan from Lecce.

3-Germany: The main transfer of the last few days-although we must wait some month to see him with his new club- is the transfer of Antoly Tymoschuk from Zenit to Bayern Munich, which is a great news for Bayern´s fans, because he is an excellent central midfielder-he is always at the correct place- and he will make a great job at Bayern, which is making a very good team for next season, because remember that it signed the good Croatian striker Ivica Olic, who will be arrive next July without a transfer. Moreover, we want to remark the arrival of veteran left player Jacek Krzynowek to Hannover96-he has an excellent shot with his left leg-, the transfer of Angelos Charisteas-his representatives are the duo Gerster/Koutsoliakos too- to Bayer Leverkusen to replace the Gekas´s departure (Charisteas is far from his best) and the changes at Hamburg, since finally the Thiago Neves´s dream came true and he left Hamburg after an unfortunate period and he returns to play on loan for Fluminense. To replace the Neves and Nigel de Jong´s departure, Hamburg has signed a goalkeeper Khalid Sinouh, a defender, Michael Gravgaard-arrived from Nantes-and 2 midfielder: Slavia Prague's Mickael Tavares-from Slavia Prague- and Albert Streit, who did not have many chances to play at Schalke 04 and he will try to have more minutes at Hamburg.
4-Turkey: The only important news in the Süper Lig in the last days is the confirmation of the arrival of experienced centre midfielder Fabian Ernst- 24 games with the German Natioanl team- to Besiktas (2.75 million), which needed a player with this profile to be definitely defensively a competitive team and to be a serious alternative to Galatasaray-for me Fenerbahçe has not chance to be the champion because it still continues playing horrible, depending on the individual quality- ve Lig adayları Galatasaray ve Besiktas vardır çünkü Fenerbahçe oynamaya devam korkunç-
(by the way Luis Aragones decided that Tümer Metin should play in other team and the veteran offensive midfielder will play on loan in the Greek Larisa)-.
These are the most important news of the last days, now we will see if these payers can be useful for the news clubs.
Cheers,

EL FIN DEL MERCADO INVERNAL 09 (article in English and Español)

THIS SUNDAY, THE 2 SIDES (article in English and Español)

We started this February with an incredible Sunday, since we have had great sport moments, where we saw the 2 sides of sport: the victory and defeat, the heads or tails.
The day began with a thrilling duel between the 2 best tennis players of the world- Rafael Nadal (number 1 in the world) and Roger Federer (world number 2)- in which we have been see the usual when these 2 “monsters” play in a court during the last years, since Federer showed a good level but he is unable to find the formula to beat the Spanish tennis player, who has returned to give us a display of power and mental strength, despite his terrible and long semi-final game against Fernando Verdasco last Friday (I think it is not correct that Federer played his semi-final on Thursday and Nadal on Friday), and finally, after more than 4 hours of great tennis, Rafa could win the Australian Open(7-5, 3-6, 7-6,3 -6 and 6-2) and “provoked” the Federer´s tears, the tears of impotency, since it seems that it will be impossible for Roger to beat Rafa, except if the Spanish player has a bad days. Anyway, great show and already we want to see the next big game between these 2 incredible players, which maybe will be in "Nadal´s territory”, Roland Garros.

A few hours later we still see the 2 sides of the sport in the game between Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC, which was another demonstration during this season of the bad performance of Felipao as coach of an European team, because he continues with his “incredible” record of 0 wins when his team play against a top team and besides showing a poor level, especially offensively and for example at Anfield this afternoon it is difficult to remember any Chelsea´s chances to score any goal. We said in September that Chelsea did not convince us, cause the arrival of the overvalued Scolari-his labour as coach of the Portuguese national team can be described as poor- had many doubts and finally, the time is giving us the reason, because this Chelsea play as a modest and small team when it play against a top team like Liverpool FC, which, although this afternoon it has not played its best match, was the just winner, since it was the team with more chances to score, both before and after the rigorous Lampard´s red car and finally it got the victory thanks to the quality of Fernando Torres who decided the match with 2 goals-he scored with his head a good first goal-.After this game, Liverpool (51 points in 24 games) continues struggling with the Manchester United (53 points in 23 partidos9) in order to be the Champions and Chelsea (48 points in 24) says goodbye to the Premier League´s title and it should focus on the Champions League´s round against Juventus, for which, if it want to have any option to win, should especially sack Felipe Scolari, and if it is possible to sign a striker during the last days of the winter market-Anelka is not reliable to play important game and we do not have any news about Drogba until this moment (possibly because he is not comfortable with other members of the squad) -.
Finally, we saw this Sunday again the 2 sides of sport at Zagreb in the final of the World Championship of Handball between Croatia and France, which have played a balanced game until the final minutes when the impressive French defensive line and the superb goalkeeper, Thierry Omeyer, excelled-Omeyer showed again that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, or possibly the best, because he became a impenetrable wall for the veteran Croatian players. Besides the great work of Omeyer, we must remark the effectiveness of Michael Guigou (10 goals with 7-7 in penaltys) and the excellent work of the French coach Claude Onesta, who came back to be sensational in his labour, knowing when a player should be in the court or in the bench to see the best level of each player during all the game and of course in the key moments of games. If Onesta was phenomenal, we can not say the same of the Croatian coach, Lino Cervar, who did not take the best decisions during the game and for example he was a little slow to ask for a time out -it is possible that he wanted to emulate the coach of Los Angeles Lakers, Phil Jackson, who has the habit to wait too many minutes to ask for a necessary time out-, since it was a mistake to wait until the 55 minutes to see a Croatian time out when there were a gap of 3 goals. Great final and just winner, because France showed that without any discussion, it is the best team of the world-it is the current World and Olympic Champion- and the score of the final is clear, 24-19. Indeed, alongside France, there were other protagonist in this world cup, since we must remark the lamentable championship of Spain, which played in a pathetic and shameful way, finishing in the 13 position after a horrendous first round, where the players did not seem professional athletes, because he showed a very poor level, both when they “defended” and they “attacked”-the wingers exist!!!!-. If the play of the team was pathetic, what can we say about the labour of the Spanish coach, Valero Rivera-the man, who when he was the chief of the FC Barcelona´s teams of basketball, handball, hockey and futsal, fired the great FC Barcelona´s basketball coach Svetislav Pešić-, who has not resigned until this moment, but this is a topic for another article.
Enjoy with the Super Bowl.

LA CARA Y LA CRUZ DEL DEPORTE (article in English and Español)

THE LAST DAYS OF THE MARKET (article in English and Español)

The end of the market is near and the teams must concentrate to hit and to sign the correct players to play the second half of season with guarantees to get the objectives.
During the last days, we have not had much news, being the English Premier League the championship wIf we look at the English Premier League´s teams whose battle is to qualify to the next Champions League, the current protagonist is Aston Villa, because the Birmingham´s team has decided to strengthen its offensive line with the acquisition of the very experienced and powerful striker Emile Heskey (3,7 million euros)-this is an overvalued player and for example I did not understand his Liverpool´s transfer when it paid 16, 5 million euros for him, but he can be a valid player for Villa to have a substitute and complement to Carew and Gabriel Agbonlahor and he can score around 6-8 goals-. The Wigan Athletic moved quickly to find a Heskey´s substitute and it signed another overvalued striker, the Egyptian Mido, who is a player like Bobo Vieri, because he is only 25 year´s old and he has played in 9 teams until this moment. Besides, we have news from other Premier League´s teams which have options to play in next Uefa Cup, like West Ham United where we will see the play of a new offensive midfielder, the promising Savio Nsereko, who arrives from Brescia Calcio (6.7 million euros), or like Manchester City, whose last arrival is the good Dutch central midfielder Nigel de Jong-at the moment this is the only good City´s arrival during this month(19.5 million euros)- or Hull City which will be the new club of an experienced midfielder Jimmy Bullard, who arrived from Fulham FC after a transfer fee of 5.3 million euros. Moreover, we have news from the teams whose battle is to remain in the Premier League and for example Tottenham Hotspur is continuing its particular “players´s return” and after the Defoe´s reacquisition, Harry Redknapp decided the Pascal Chimbonda´s return to be the substitute of the injured Alan Hutton. Moreover Redknapp will also have in the squad the veteran goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini-he arrives on loan from Chelsea to replace Cesar who will play at Valencia-and the Honduran midfielder Wilson Palacios( the Spurs paid to Wigan 15 million euros, which is perhaps too much money for a player who is a good player, but he still has much to prove-he should take care of his behaviour on the field, because this season has seen 9 yellow cards-). Portsmouth is spending the important sum of money received in this market with the Defoe and Lass´s departures and it is strengthened its midfielder line with the arrival of Hayden Mullins-he arrives from West Ham-, Jermaine Pennant-he is an overvalued player, because he is fast but he is not very precise with the ball…I did not understand the Real Madrid´s interest on him…-and Pele from FC Porto-he need to play to improve and to show again his level showed when he played at Inter Milan-.Finally, in England, we must remark the arrival to Newcastle United of Peter Lovenkrands, who was free because he and Schalke stopped the relation after some unlucky years at Gelsenkirchen and now he will have another opportunity to recover and show his Glasgow Rangers´s level.

Other Leagues:
Germany: Possibly the most important news during the last days is the Hoffenheim´s decision to sign the striker Boubacar Sanogo as the substitute of the Bundesliga´s top scorer Vedad Ibisevic who is injured and he will not play until next season-although Sanogo did not play well at Werder Bremen and his performance is a mystery, I think his arrival is the best solution to Hoffenheim according the circumstances, because he has an important German experience and besides it is very difficult to find a better striker during this market-. There is also the return of Marko Babic to the Bundesliga after an unhappy period at Betis-he is a great player and it is sure that he will show at Herta Berlin again his best version(by the way, Herta is the new club of the good experienced Argentine defender Leandro Cufré, who arrives from AS Monaco)-and the signature of the controversial Croatian central defender Dino Drpic who arrives to Karlsruhe- I say that he is controversial because he is a player who has problems with gambling- casinos, and also because he is married to a controversial Croatian singer-model, Nives Celzijus, who has just published a controversial book about their private life (the Dino´s departure will be replaced by is a classic European football, Robert Kovac who has just signed for NK Dinamo Zagreb) - The arrival of the powerful midfielder Derek Owusu Boateng from Beitar Jerusalem to FC Cologne and the arrival of the left back Nikola Petkovic to Eintracht Frankfurt.
Spanish League: the most remarkable during the last days is the arrival of a Serbian goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic to Getafe to replace El Pato Abbondanzieri, who will play at Boca Juniors- Vladimir has to prove once that he can be a valid goalkeeper to play outside Serbia-, or the return of Jose Edmilson to Brazil to play at Palmerias-he was not happy at Villarreal, where he did not have many minutes and he had decided to return to his country, in whose league we will see playing the striker Maxi Lopez, who will demonstrate his "tremendous" quality at Gremio (I can not understand how FC Barcelona rejected Kanouté and it signed Maxi-they had the same price in that period- ...).
Italian League: the only remarkable signatures are the acquisition of 2 backs, the experienced Manuel Belleri from Lazio to Bologna FC and Claudio Rivalta from Atalanta to Torino FC.
Turkish League: The main protagonist of the last few days is Alanzinho, since the Brazilian offensive player, after some very good years in Norway, where he was considered one of the best players in the league, has decided to leave Stabæk to prove that he can be a valid player for Trabzonspor(transfer fee of 4 million euros), where he will play alongside Yattara, who sounds again as Real Madrid´s player-he is a good player but I think that he is not ready to play at Real Madrid and he must improve and needs more experience in important and difficult European Competition games…but anything is possible with Pedja Mijatovic and Real Madrid-.
We will see what will happen during the next at Manchester City or Real Madrid or in players like Thiago Neves who is not too happy at Hamburg.
We will see.

ÚLTIMOS DÍAS DEL MERCADO (article in English and Español)
