Obviously many names appear as candidate to be best goalkeeper of 2008, however we believe that the more regular goalkeeper throughout this year is the Inter Milan´s goalkeeper, the Brazilian Julio Cesar, whose performance this season has been spectacular, showing all the characteristics of a great goalkeeper: calm, secure, excellent in all the situation –for example Casillas has problems with the corner´s plays-, without absurd mistake- we can not say the same about Petr Cech, whose Euro 08 was bad, committing big mistakes- and playing a lot of matches during this year-Buffon has not played many games, cause he had problems with the injuries and in fact he does not play a game since last October,5th and therefore we can not consider the superb Buffon as the best of this year-.
We think that there is not any discuss about the best 2 central defenders of the year, since there are 2 names, whose plays have excelled. We refer to the 2 Manchester United´s central defender, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, whose performance this year has been brilliant, because if the offensive United was the Premiership´s team with less goals received during this year and it is the current English, European and World Champion is because the level showed by these 2 defender was brilliant,, who are synonym of coordination, strength and to be in the correct place. Moreover their year is has more value if we take into account that they had the problem of the Owen Hargreaves and Michael Carrick´s injuries, since both are very important to help Vidic and Rio to make a good defensive labour, but these 2 central defender showed all their quality to make good these absences, which would be catastrophic in any team, but not in this United thanks to these 2 football players.
Along with the central defender, we have chosen offensive backs, Maicon on the right-the Brazilians played very well during this year at Inter, showing power, speed, quality, safety and capacity to assist and score- and Yuri Zhirkov on the left-what can we say about the CSKA Moscow's left back? He showed an incredible level during both the Euro 2008 and the Russian League, where he was designated the best player of the season, which is very commendable, since it is always difficult for a defensive player to receive these kind awards.
It is clear that one of the Real Madrid´s mistakes committed in the past was the departure of Esteban Cambiasso to Inter Milan-Real Madrid is having many problems to find a player with the Cambiasso´s quality for this position and of course between Lass and Cambiasso is not any doubt about who is better…but it is seems that to be the Real Madrid´s football director is necessary to make absurd and ridiculous things…Pedja Mijatovic is the “best” for these things and his last ridiculous situation is the Lass-Huntelaar´s problem (only one of them can play the Champions League... so I ask my favourite question, ¿has Mijatovic any utility? ¿when will Ramon Calderón sack this man?) –since Cambiasso has all the necessary for a midfielder: quality, defensive rigor, being always in the right place, helping to the rest of the team and besides with goal. So, he can qualify him as a total player and of course Inter is a fortunate to be able to have in the squad this player, who was/is one the Inter´s pillars during the Mancini and Jose Mourinho ´s period.Along with Cambiasso, one player of the starting lineup would be the FC Barcelona´s midfielder, Xavi Hernandez- the elegant playmaker was one of the few FC Barcelona´s players who showed a good level during the last months of the last season, showing all his tremendous quality during all the Liga´s game and the Euro 2008, where he was the great director of the play of the European Champion, being the best player of the Euro 08-and the 2 super players, Cristiano Ronaldo-this decisive player showed a brilliant play: speed, incredible and difficult dribbles, assists and Goals (39 goals in 48 league´s games). The only negative points were his bad performance during the Euro and his penalty´s mistake during the Champions League´s Final- and Leo Messi-his FC Barcelona´s year can be described as the Xavi´s year, since the Argentine has played excellent, showing us an exquisite quality, determination and maturity ... we hope that Messi continues in this line for many years and his bad behaviour some weeks ago-he refused to train because he was angry with Pep Guardiola, according the radio station RAC1- is simply a concrete accident.
On the one hand, there are any doubts that Zlatan Ibrahimovic must be in the starting lineup of the dream team, since he is clearly one of the greatest talents of football´s world, is a virtuous, able to the impossible dribbles, assists and goals, being always a decisive player and appearing when the team needs him- it is clear that he will win many times during the next years the FIFA World Player-. On the other hand, we have more doubts about who should be the companion of the brilliant Swedish, because we like two players, Fernando Torres-“El Niño” has closed many mouths and nobody can criticize this player (I could not understand the criticize received for this player when he played at Atlético de Madrid), since his Liverpool´s first year can be described as memorable, since he is one the keys both Liverpool FC (he scored during his first Premier´s season 24 goals in 35 games and this season his numbers are:5 goal in 9 Premier´s games) and the Spanish National team (he is always a decisive player and for example he scored during the Euro´s Final against Germany)-and Sergio "el Kun" Agüero-Atlético Madrid´s fans were lucky when Javier Aguirre took the decision to give more minutes to El Kun 14 months ago... the results were clear, Aguirre kept his job and the fans could see spectacle and besides Atletico Madrid got the qualify to the Champions League ... so, the normal thing when brilliant, decisive, strong, skilful players like Sergio are in the field-. So, as the choice is complicated, maybe the best thing is that Zlatan play the first half with Agüero and the second with Torres ...
