NBA: GOOD GAME AT BOSTON GARDEN (article available in English and Español)

Tonight, we can enjoy with a NBA´s attractive game between the Boston Celtics and Portland Trail Blazers, which can be understood as a game between the present and future in the NBA, personified in the confrontation between the 2 centers of the teams, Greg Oden and Kevin Garnett.
Tonight, we will see a game between two team, which are showing a very high level, because on one hand the current NBA champion, Boston Celtics, arrives to this game after 10 consecutive wins-its last defeat was 20 days ago when it lost the game played against Denver Nuggets (in fact Celtics have only lost 2 games all season and this team has with a great record of 18-2)- and being the key of the team, as we expected, the performance of the "Big Three"-Paul Pierce (31 year´s old ):18.6 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game; Ray Allen (33 year´s old): 18.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game and Kevin Garnett (32 year´s old): 16.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game- helped by the good work of the guard, Rajon Rondo-10, 2 points, 7.7 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game- and of the hard center, Kendrick Perkins-7, 6 points and 8 rebounds per game-.So, more or less we are seeing the same as in the last season, because it is essential the performance of the “Big three”, since the other members of the roster contribute in what they can com ... last year it was not a bad tactic and we will see if this year it will be enough to win the title again-we doubt about it, since the key players are veterans and besides they will not have the important help of the worker and competitive James Posey-he was very important during the Play-off last season-, who is playing at New Orleans.
On the other hand, the Portland Trail Blazers arrives to this game in an excellent moment, after 6 consecutive wins and being the second best team of the competitive Western Conference (its record is 14-6 thanks an incredible level when it play at the Rose Garden in Portland, where the team is helped by its incredible fans and of course the result at home is 7). Therefore, we can qualify the Blazers´s season as great season until this moment, playing the Nate McMillan´s team a good basketball, standing out the superb Brandon Roy-he is great player with only 24 year´s old, showing great numbers(21.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game) and performance during the important moments of the games, as for example his 2 decisive shots in last 2 seconds of the game played against Houston Rockets this season. So, Roy is the star of the team, but he is not alone and we can say that Blazers is a team, since Roy is helped by the excellent work of the other member of the roster and specially by the work of 6: LaMarcus Aldridge (he is 23 year´s old and 15.9 points and 6.6 rebounds), Rudy Fernandez (he is 23 year´s old and 11.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists. Rudy finished November showing an irregular level but it seems that he has recovered the good level and the confidence and now he is playing very well again and in fact he is getting during the December´s games(at New York and Washington): 15.5 point- 58%FG, 54 in 3p% and 100%FT-, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.2 steals in 24 minutes), Steve Blake (11.5 points and 4.2 assists), Travis Outlaw (he is 24 year´s old and 11.1 points and 4.1 rebounds), Greg Oden (he is only 20 year´s old, and 2.13 cm and 8 points and 8 rebounds in 21 minutes game) and even Joel Przybilla (6 points and 8 rebounds) ... Anyway, it is a great team and it has a great future, because the average age of the magic quartet-Roy, Rudy, LaMarcus and Oden- is 22.5 year´s old which contrasts with the Boston´s "Big Three", whose age is 32 year´s old. So, it is clear that this game will be a battle between the present, the experience of Boston and the youth and the future of Portland and of course it will be a fight between the most dominant center in the NBA in the last years, Kevin Garnett-he has played 1017 NBA games with 20.3 points and 11.3 rebounds, and being one of the best defenders in the league- and the player, who want to replace KG as the dominant center of the league –although, of course we can not forget Dwight Howard (the 23 year´s old Magic´s center is a reality, since his numbers are:21 points and 14 rebounds this season) and Andrew Bynum (the numbers of the Lakers´s center are 13 points and 9 rebounds)-, Greg Oden, who was No.1 draft 2007 and after his absence last season because he was injured, finally he is playing in the NBA and he is having more minutes, presence and confidence and he is starting to show why Blazers chose him as number 1 and for example he has played until this moment 14 games, where he has gotten 6 double-doubles. Of course he must improve but we do not have any doubt that he will be a dominant player and that this young and talented Blazers will be an important team during the following season, ¿will it win the title during the next 5 years? We will see but at the moment, tonight it will have a difficult game at Boston, ¿who will win? The answer at TD Banknorth Garden in Boston at 20.00 E.T
Enjoy!
Cheers,
J&F
